Wordsworth said Grasmere was the loveliest place ever. He was not wrong. In a beautiful setting, the Bridge is a brilliant hotel. The food (and wine) were really good, and the staff were so helpful & friendly. We absolutely loved our stay in our new Lake District favourite

Room Tip: The river view was exceptional

We had stayed here about 4 years ago & loved the food! Having travelled from Edinburgh as part of a road trip we questioned the price & were told £65 for DB&B so my daughter stated we had expected to pay £60... We were told we could have B&B for £55 so no real reduction for last minute... Room could have remained empty...but it was getting late so we booked in... Room was spacious.... Last time we were given a ground floor smaller room...however we weren't disappointed with the food...goat's cheese pate....lemon & orange sorbet.... Stir fry veg on noodles although amused when extra veg served with it then apple crumble & custard... So we slept on lovely full stomachs. We asked about soya milk when booking in but cow's milk was on the breakfast table so we questioned this... The 1st waitress insisted it was but later we realised lost in translation & she thought we said semi milk but later said that she'd put it on another table... However the 2nd waitress brought carton & jug ensuring soya...there was no veggie option on menu but when asked we were told there were beans so we had beans on toast that was fine! Although basic this is good value for money as it includes a 4 course meal & is in the centre of Grasmere!

Arrived on spec to be shown the available rooms. We had made our minds up to stay once we were shown the superior double overlooking the river and to be told the 4 course evening dinner was included. This is a truly classy place right in the middle of the village. Staff very friendly and food excellent.

We booked room 4 on the ground floor, spacious and had its own patio overlooking the river. How? Because the website gives so much, and accurate, information. So it was easy to choose.
This is an relaxing environment. One can listen to the murmurs of the adjacent stream.
This hotel seems only to offer bed, breakfast and dinner. This is a good recipe. The food is really good, not totally gourmet but I would not go anywhere else. Equally, the service was not only very efficient but also very friendly. We spoke to several people who had stayed over many years. The place made us nicely comfortable.

This hotel is not to be missed!

Lovely building, nicely situated, very good food, very pleasant staff. Would definitely go back. Many walks directly from hotel. Very good parking facilities. Easy walk to shops, church, pubs, cafes, restaurants if you require them. Standard of service was just right, not intrusive but always on the ball. Menu was just right for us and changed daily.

Room Tip: We had Room 1 on ground floor. No stairs to climb after meal / drinks!!

Stayed 2 nights but wished it was longer despite wet weather and will certainly return. Had superior rooms which were well furnished and clean. Overlooked river and could not hear it at all with windows closed although it was very high folllowing heavy rain. Comfortable lounge with games/books etc and pleasant quiet gardens. Close easy walking to selection of shops in Grasmere and bus stop. Food and dining room service excelllent - not pretentious but nicely cooked and served and more than enough for hungry walkers after a day in the hills. No problem having to order before service and undoubtedly this keeps costs down. A lovely relaxing break !

Room Tip: Ask when booking or read descriptions on website re rooms

stayed at this hotel for our anniversary, it well worth the money, we had a wonderful room and the food was awesome! We booked room 2, and to be honest I was a bit aprehensive after reading a few reviews on here, but the reviewers who have moaned about "The sound of the river" need to get a life!!! We were right on the river, it was tranquil, relaxing, and just what we needed. We saw a fox cub walk along the bank, and the ducks were just floating by. You cant hear the river with the windows shut, so who would book a clearly stated riverside room, and not expect to hear the river with the windows open??? For my husband and I, who enjoy watching wildlife, it was ideal. It was a beautiful room.
The food was excellent too, and much has been made about having to order your food in the day, before you eat in the evening. I thought this was a great idea! Well done Bridgehouse! I hate waiting for my meal, this way we sat down, ordered a drink, and were served with our starter! I really think this is the way all hotels should be. Everything ran like clockwork, and I didnt here anyone complaining. How can you complain abou this? I dont get it, sometimes when weve stayed in hotels that include your dinner, we have been apprehensive all day in case there are things on the menu we really dont like. This way, I looked forward to my fillet steak all day, and certainly wasnt disapointed!!
Overall, it was wonderful, and we will definatly be back
