The room we booked was amazing- a large window stood in front of the bed, through which we could see a large paddock, the hills, and a bit of a lake at the end. Would definitely recommend booking a room with a view. It was a very peaceful way to start the day!
Breakfast was delicious with both a cooked abs continental option.
The hotel is within walking distance of the town and other walks in the area.
Lovely stay..

Spent two single nights (6 nights apart) in this hotel at the start and end of our trip to Scotland.
First night (18/5/19) was in luxury room with lake view, at far end of the building.
Room was nice, (althought a long corridor and steep stairs must be climbed to access it) though the balcony was mysterious covered in a fine layer of mud when we arrived, which quickly walked into the room. Second issue was aircon unit was mounted directly above the bed and made occasional buzzing noises, even when switched off, which woke us several times! I complained about this next day.
The food quality in the restaurant was absolutely superb and cannot be praised enough, as are most of the serving staff with one exception, (a grumpy, surly, short bearded man, lacking in grace or charm).
Parking at this Hotel is quite good, with bays of sensible width, for a change.
The biggest issue here was the price: Given the lack of any Spa or Pool facilities, it's hard to see why they seem to be charging £288 for a single nights B&B when similar hotels in the village charge half that? On our second visit (24/5/19) we noted how quiet the hotel was, seemingly only about 1/3 full compared to the others in Grassmere that were extremely busy. Again, we had a nice room, but it did not justify the price and we suspect this might be a factor in the relative lack of residents.

What a place The Grand at Grasmere is! Never fails to deliver great service. Thank you to the wonderful Louise and team who made sure we had such an enjoyable stay. Nothing was too much trouble and of course the food was excellent, as usual. We really hope to be back again before long. Thank you.

Had a two night break here last week, room was smallish, but lovely. Really large comfy double bed. Staff were all attentive and friendly. Not a massive hotel, so always easy to get breakfast, which was excellent. Had dinner once ...thai curry was great. Enjoyed our walk around the lake ( takes about 11/2 to 2 hours) . Parking free outside.

Room tip: Our room(2)was on ground floor and handy for people who find stairs difficult

We have stayed at the grand a few times now and have never been disappointed. Set in a beautiful location in grasmere overlooking the lake or the fells, very tranquil, while offering a touch of luxury, just a couple of minutes walk into the village.
Rooms are well appointed, luxurious and quiet, and all have stunning views.
Staff are always smart, helpful and friendly, always willing to help.
Cafe grand is great for breakfast, as well as lunch or evening meals, food is delicious. also a perfect spot to take in the views. Also a nice lounge, relaxing area to chill out after a day exploring.
If you like waking, this is also a perfect location - many easy routes, as well as more challenging ones- the grand also boasts its own high tech boot room for storing/drying your walking boots, nice to put on warm boots in the morning!
Also plenty of parking space.
We will be back soon!
Photos to follow soon....
