“Great food and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

Largish (6) family group had lunch here on a busy Sunday. Good choice of food - everything was nice quality and well presented (great quiche and all day breakfast); friendly and efficient service. Portion sizes are large, so beware if you only want a snack, and many are served with an unneccesary side salad which is probably a meal in itself.

“Lovely cafe, would recommend”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2012

Next to the Red Lion hotel, this is a nice all day café, with seating outside at the front. Grasmere has many eating places with high standards and this is no exception. Serves a wonderful breakfast, the picture is the full English. It can get very busy, the village itself is a tourist trap and you ‘ll find swarms of people at weekends and the holiday seasons. Quick service, not rushed.

It is sparsely furnished, but it is not trying to be a full blown restaurant. I am not sure how long it has been here, but I seem to recall its existence certainly in the 80s. Well worth a visit.

“Great for a snack”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

Looks and feels more contemporary than other cafes in Grasmere. We had luchtime snack and had soup which was lovely and a filled crusty roll which came with a salad which was enormous. Staff were friendly and the whole place was spotless

“Where time stands still”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2012

This cafe is obviously trading on the name of the hotel, which has an excellent reputation. Please don't be fooled. A pleasant enough place, with friendly staff, but let down by the 1970's salad that came with all the menu choices. I really do not expect to come across coleslaw, cold pasta and undressed chunks of greenery (outside of the cheaper end of the something-in-a-basket pub meal) in this day an age.

1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2012

we just popped in today to get 3 takeaway sandwhiches and 2 cans of pop for a picknic at the park which came to £15.05 never thought to much of it thought for that price maybe would have a side salad opened take away box to find 3 stale rolls was not impressed never again.
