“Beautiful hotel in a beautiful place”

We have stayed at The Wordsworth twice and each time have thoroughly enjoyed it.
The staff were very helpful and always happy to help. Both times the rooms were clean, comfortable quiet during the night. The four huge lounges are perfect for relaxing in. The food in both the main restaurant and the bistro is top quality too.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have lovely views of the mountains!

We had visited last year for my 40th as a suprise by my partner Laura .
On arrival we were welcomed warmly and then booked in, a beautiful fireplace with logs alight roared to the left ,with a spacious and resplendent dining room to right . Ok that's enough of the details you will have to visit ,what the pictures don't tell you is how lovely the staff are and were .the food is magnificent and the wine cellar well stocked . This year we went back again the staff faultless again and a big mention to Vince who captured my daughters heart with a wordsworth teddy bear . To you all at words worth thank you and we will be back again soon x

Visited, as usual, on Easter Saturday, with 3 other couples. Excellent food and excellent service. A telephone call prior to the visit to check food allergies was exceptional as I had omitted to mention my wife's allergy. Gathering in the lounge prior to the meal and coffee afterwards made the whole evening a dining experience. The attention to detail shown by all staff is a credit, in particular the 'new'( from last year) Scottish gentleman. Will book again for next year. Thanks again.

We have just returned from spending Easter at the Wordsworth and had a really lovely time. The hotel was very busy and the staff worked really hard, but nothing was too much trouble for them. They were very nice to our west highland terrier too. We ate at the bistro in the evening and everything was delicious. We would love to go again.

Room Tip: Number 35 is a very nice jade green room, with a lovely king size bed.

We visited the hotel on Easter Sunday for some lunch and had it in the hotel lounge which was lovely and relaxing.

We were given menus quickly - one for the Sunday Lunch and one for Bar Food. As we had been sat in the lounge and given both menus, we believed we could order off either but this turned out to be incorrect - we all had to order from the same menu. Some of us wanted a full lunch and some wanted sandwiches but in the end we all decided on sandwiches.

We ordered quickly and our drinks arrived - 20 mins later 5 out of 6 of the sandwiches arrived, with the waiter telling us the other was on its way... after another 20 mins and after everyone else had finished their sandwich our waiter hadnt been back so we asked another who had just come on shift.

He quickly came back to us and said that there was no other sandwich - we re-ordered it, plain cheese and ham toastie with nothing on it but the cheese and ham, and sat back joking that it would probably still come out wrong.

After another 20 or so minutes the sandwich came out and had just ham and tomato so we rightfully asked for the manager and complained - fortunately he was extremely apologetic and offered to go and personally oversee the right sandwich being made and then knocked £20 off the bill - he explained that the staff were new and if we had come this time in a week this wouldn't had happened... this is fair enough, new staff of course need to be trained, but don't leave them on shift on their own if they aren't ready!

We then asked for the bill and a good discount had been offered - we waiting almost 30 minutes to pay and in the end had to chase someone for a car machine - I doubt anyone would have noticed if we'd just left!!

All in all, a lovely little place for a bite to eat, but Heidis down the road is just as good!!

I went to as wedding here and stayed overnight too. The hotel is in a beautiful location and has lovely gardens, there's quite a lot of parking which is good as its quite a small village. Check in was smooth with our room being ready before the stated time. We had friends staying to and even though their room wasn't ready there was still somewhere for them to get ready for the wedding. The room itself was lovely, a twin room overlooking the village, large, the bathroom was huge and the bath really deep.
As we were there for a wedding we also ate there and the food was lovely, and well served. Breakfast the next morning was quite well organised with the only small issue being the wait for coffee and toast as I don't think they realised we were all going to turn up at pretty much the same time.
My only reason for not giving it 5 stars was the heat, the bedroom was boiling while we were sleeping as was the restaurant when we were eating. The air conditioning in the restaurant may have well have not been turned on, and they really could do with some blinds on the glass roof as the sun was peoples eyes for the whole meal with them unable to do anything about it.
I'd definitely go here for a weekend away and recommend it to friends

Room Tip: Room 12 has a great view of the village, great bathroom but was warm

My wife and I recently got married and we celebrated our big day at the Wordsworth. We had an amazing time; originally we liked the place as it had a good, diverse range of options which enabled us to personalize our wedding as much as we imagined. The wedding coordinator was absolutely fantastic from the start; we visited dozens of locations but only he had it all figured out. As newly weds we were put in the centre of their assistance, he provided and delivered an accurate and high level of service throughout the whole preparation phase and when the day came things went even better. The hotel had a warm and cozy atmosphere, but certainly what really impressed us was the attention to detail, the amazing customer service and the help the whole staff showed us; always smiling and attentive to our guests needs. From the cleaning to the receptionists, from the barmen to the dining hall staff; everybody was there with us. The Wordsworth Hotel was for us a great experience and certainly the right choice for our venue.
