This is well worth a visit, the tour guide was exellent(it was small group) so much information about Wordswoth and the cottage is just as it was when the family lived there. The funiture and artifacts are all origanel. The cottage was like stepping back in time 200 years, also a interesting museum and very nice but a bit pricy tearoom.

Despite not knowing much about Wordsworth before teh visit, certainly felt informed after. The museum is excellent and you get to piece together teh history of Wordsworth, his life and writing. It is a guide tour and the staff are very knowledgeable. The best part is seeing all the original pieces of furniture that are in the home just as it was in Wordsworth time. You really feel that you have stepped back in time.

A three hundred year old house lived in by Wordsworth when writing his most famous poetry. Little changed since he lived there over two hundred years ago.

Very atmospheric on a dull and wet autumn afternoon. Our guide lit some candles in the lounge and then talked us through each room in the house. Original furniture and other possessions with interesting details provided by our guide who was knowledgeable and happy to answer questions.

Lots to see. So much history packed into that little cottage. Very knowledgable and helpful staff. Loved the ‘walks to remember’ art installation in the museum.

We enjoyed our trip round Dove Cottage very much and also the way in which the tour guide presented the information. She held our interest and was full of information and amusing anecdotes. A good way to spend a drizzly afternoon. Limited space and tours are timed. All tours are guided. Advise book early to avoid disappointment. The shop and museum nearby are also worth visiting.
