“rude, arrogant, unhelpful.”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

I was staying in Grasmere for a walking weekend with friends. We went to Tweedies for a quick drink and whilst I was at the bar paying, two young mothers with prams came entered in a state of distress. They had somehow lost their husbands and asked if they could quickly use the pub phone to call them and find where they where. The unhelpful jobsworth barmaid flatly refused.
The second day, I ordered a couple of pints for my friend and me. These pints turned out to be cloudy and had a line cleaner kind of taste to it. When I returned them to the bar to ask for an exchange, the smarmy bar man said there's nothing wrong with the beer and totally refused to give me a fresh pint or refund.
Extremely poor customer service and no manners at all.

“Avoid the food”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

The food was very disappointing. The service was fine. Ok atmosphere. Overall nothing special. Not a place I would come back to.

“Good food, great beer”

Ate here on Thursday evening. Fantastic bar with load of different real ales. Food was hearty and well presented. Lot of locals in the bar. Had a great evening.

“Hmm more effort could be made.”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

I don't normally write reviews but feel this one is necessary as quite frankly it wasn't worth the money we have just paid. Living locally nice places to eat in keswick are sparse so I went to Tweedies for my 3rd time in 2 months. Service was poor, not the friendly smile you expect when dining, I had the pie the meat was tough and chewy which I'm really not used too (I did tell the waitress but didn't seem a concern). However my mother enjoyed the lamb, prices may be over the top for the standard of food, in addition the atmosphere was lovely.

“Real Ale heaven”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

This place is a beer drinkers dream, especially after a walk or before a dinner. Go and have a couple of pints but taste 6 different beers. Order the bat of three one third pints and you can have your own mini beer festival without getting drunk. Excellent. Didn't eat there but the food looked very nice.
