Visited Tweedies for the first time last week. Initially went in for a quick pint but decided to stay for a meal as the menu looked so good. I was not disappointed by the beer or the food; six real ales on and two real perries. They run the deal where you can sample three thirds of ale for the price of a pint which is a good way of sampling several without getting hammered. The food was delicious. OK, it's not the cheapest, but what does one expect in the middle of the national park in touristville!

Tweedies is much better than it used to be. It's boot, dog and child friendly; they've laid it out right, the staff are friendly, it's warm and the beer is great. The food lets it down: expensive, bland and definitely one to avoid. You just feel that with a little bit of thought they could get the food right and then the place would be five star.

Warm and ideal when you have been on the fells as it has stone floors. Very expensive drinks. Looked at the menu and was glad we didn't have to eat there. £14.95 for fish and chips! Pub grub at restaurant prices.

We have been here several times and usually thought it good, if expensive for pub food (this is the Lakes after all).

However we went earlier this week and were shocked at the prices of children's meals. To feed our 5 and7 year olds 2 pizzas and 2 ice creams would cost £19!

Pizzas and other mains for children were £7.50 each and a portion of Ice cream was £2 - but you were only allowed to purchase the £2 ice cream if you had already paid £7.50 for a child's main course!!

We were tight enough to make them share and the portion size was fine. I think that the food was way over priced. - ok for 10-12 year olds maybe but for much younger, it's just too expensive. £4.50 to £6 is plenty.

Service was from a very friendly waitress which salvaged the meal but we won't be rushing back.

Visited here for a drink on a very wet night, but the warmth of the fire and the range of real ales made us stay and after a look at the menu we decided to eat in the restaurant and we were not disappointed. As a vegetarian i had one of the best meals of any purely vegetarian restaurant. My husband had wild boar burger and real chips and a side of huge delicious onion rings and i had mushroom leek and chestnut pie with roasted vegetables and parsnip mash.Dessert was ginger snd lime parfaitwith shortbread and hubbys favourite creme brulee. There was an extensive wine list to choose from and we settled for a Chilean red at a very reasonable price. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and will definitely return. Highly recommended.
