This is a small hostel just outside of the stunning village of Grasmere in the Lake District. It is perfect for those doing some climbing in the local area. We stayed during the week when it is quieter. We had a private room. The rooms are a little tight if you are sharing with people you may not know. It is ideal to book out completely, if say you had a big group doing some climbing. Facilities were excellent. They had a drying room, which essential for anyone doing outdoor activities. The kitchen was spotless as were the showers. I would highly recommend this hostel.

I spent a weekend here with a big group and it was an absolutely delightful place. Throughout the whole hostel, it was immaculately clean. The facilities include kitchen, sauna, lounge with plenty of reading and games, an amazing drying room and bike storage.
It was a short walk to Grasmere Lake and local pubs.
All of the bedrooms had an en suite shower-room with additional showers and toilets downstairs.
The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to use in a kitchen area, you literally just need to turn up with your food. There is plenty of dining area and a lovely outdoor area for sitting and relaxing if the weather is nice.
The owner was very welcoming and offered advice and additional route information for our adventures.
I would definitely recommend this hostel and hope to be going there again in the future.

Went by car with a uni friend, for walking and sailing. Staff were welcoming, accommodating and helpful. Kitchen facilities were really very good, we cooked roast chicken one night and was just as easy as being at home. Bunks are comfortable, we didn't suffer much noise being in a 6-man dorm, although obviously as in any hostel, it depends who you end up sharing with. Many of our fellow residents were walking the coast-to-coast route. There are a couple of pub restaurants within walking distance.

The lounge area in the roof is lovely, spacious and relaxing, and stocked with games and books for those rainy days.

If you're happy to share a room, this place is highly recommended.

Stayed here with a big group, fantastic being able to use the whole hostel as our own. Would really recommend for larger groups, but a really lovely hostel for individuals too- fantastic amenities, clean rooms and great communal areas with plenty of games and information. We really enjoyed having a civilised pimms in the sun outside in the lovely BBQ patio area. Will definitely return.

Located just outside of Grasmere, this hostel has everything you need when exploring the lakes; hot water for those chilly days, comfy common room for kicking it back after a long hike, kitchen facilities and hygiene that would impress Jamie Oliver and friendly hosts to top it all! We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay, and would've stayed longer if time permitted. Dave, the owner, was very helpful and clued up, really made us feel at home. The cleanliness from bathroom to common room was great. The reception area is well stocked with walking route maps and things to do in the lake district. Boredom is not an option! Best hostel I've ever stayed in!

Definitely recommend the hostel, both in general and for groups. We hired out the whole hostel, and it had everything we needed. Plenty of space, great kitchen facilities, and beautiful sunshine. The sunshine was an added bonus, but it would have been a brilliant weekend regardless. Dave was friendly and helpful, both during our stay and through the booking process. Great location, an easy 1 mile walk to Grasmere village.

We've stayed at many independent hostels and Grasmere is as good as they come! Clean as a whistle throughout, comfortable bedroom( with en-suite,a luxury after a weeks camping),excellent kitchen and cosy lounge with great books and a beautiful round window. The drying room was a godsend for wet boots, etc and Dave and his wife, the owners, were more than happy to share their local knowledge with us..It's just on the edge of the fells for walking yet only 15 minutes stroll down into Grasmere village.Long may it be there!
