We called in without a reservation during half term week when everywhere was very busy. We were advised if we were ok to wait half an hour there would be a table available by then. We sat in a very comfortable lounge and ordered some wine which arrived at the perfect temperature. The food was more in line with fine dining restaurants and needed no seasoning at all, it was perfect. Very aesthetically pleasing...the desert could have been framed and hung on the wall. We loved it here. It was friendly and relaxed. Don't be put off by it being a hotel...we were only in jeans and made to feel most welcome. Great food, atmosphere and the price was reasonable for the quality.

We chose this place for our anniversary and were not disappointed, the menu is fantastic value, food is exquisitely presented and paired and we will most definitely be back.
The restaurant feels cosy from the minute you come in to the welcome lounge with roaring fire, take a seat have a drink on the sofas and browse the menu. The 1/2 bottle of champagne was excellent and the service the right balance of friendly but polished and professional. Its not a huge place so would definitely book ahead.
Try the Creme Brulee whatever your diet or resultion its phenominal with its strawberry and honeycomb.

My wife and I ate here for our 40th anniversary. The meals are beautifully presented with lots of colour and time spent getting the looks just perfect. A modern twist on every course and a wine list that offered value and variety. The cheese board was impressive with a fine selection of cheeses from the county of Cumbria. Wife loved it as much as I.

We ate here following consistently high scores on Tripadvisor. Many of the hotel restaurants in the Lake District are good in their own right, and this was no exception. The food was very well presented, and usually, also tasted really good, with excellent flavours. Service was friendly. We thought it was reasonably priced.
