Started with an onion bhaji which i have to say was as good if not better than any i have had in Indian restaurants. All food was well presented and full of flavour, steak cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. Desert was perfect and all accompanied by delicious well priced wine Service excellent, efficient yet unobtrusive. Highly recommended!

Are here on the 23rd February whilst on a stay in Grasmere and only really stumbled on the restaurant whilst walking about.

There is an early bird offer of free wine when you purchase two courses between 6 and 7pm but we missed that, worth watching out for though.

Having not pre-booked and seeing it was busy we were not sure we would get a table at 7:30pm but the staff were great and made us feel at home.

Wine list seemed good, no draught lager but that wasn't a show stopper. Ordered a bottle of Tempranillo which they didn't have in and was recommended a different bottle which "is nicer than Tempranillo anyway". That was the only negative here, we ordered that wine because we like it, but hey ho...the owner is entitled to his opinion.

For starters my wife had the garlic mushrooms whilst I had the soup of the day which was carrot and roasted pepper. Both were delicious. Onto the main, I had the steak, rare - this was cooked to perfection. My wife had chicken which also was fantastic too!

We decided to both had the sticky toffee pudding which was a real treat and highly recommended. I would have no hesitation in going back or recommending this Bistro. The food is great and the service was very attentive!

We had a fantastic meal at the weekend..we googled restaurants in Grasmere and due to ratings decided to try it.We were so pleased we did! The duck main and steak was fantastic. A two course meal with wine 43 pounds with good service and excellent quality..it was good value and much better than the meal the previous evening at our hotel that was twice the price...owner a character but we found him friendly enough.

You'd have to go a long way to find better than this.

This charming Bistro is modern and welcoming and reasonably priced for the fayre on offer.

The food is first class. The service matches the food. The owners have a wonderfull balance of friendly attentive service without being intrusive. Service is smooth. never felt rushed of as though we were waiting.

A bonus here is that if you sit down and order before 7pm, you'll get a free bottle of decent wine thrown in too.
Maybe because the bistro is 80 yards or so out of the top side of the village.

We had the Duck Linguini and the Fish. Both were fantastic.

Thanks to all who rated this previously on Tripadvisor, as we went on your recommendations.
