If you stay in Grasmere, then you MUST spend at least one evening eating at Sara's Bistro. I dare you to visit this place on your first evening, but beware, you will then be disappointed with the meals you have served at other venues.
Sara's Bistro is a special place to take someone special. The food is absolutely spectacular and oozes with tastes that you would expect to be served whilst eating at a top restaurant.
Well you won't be disappointed, Sara' Bistro serves up food of the highest standard and quality, every course is unique and dances challengingly with your taste buds. What a meal we had!!

It is one of the best meals we have ever had.

When we visit Grasmere again in February, my wife and I will be dining there again. Oh, the atmosphere is lovely and the place is spotlessly clean.

Another great meal at this delightful restaurant. Highly recommend the chicken liver parfait starter. Fish and chips excellent as was the salmon on the specials board. Unlike a previous reviewer I have never felt harassed or hurried by the staff. Quite the reverse, enjoying a good meal in relaxed surroundings. Sara's offers exceptional value if you go early doors but definitely worth a visit regardless of time!

The food at this restaurant is quite good and I have no complaints about that it's just the service that is quite laughable. From the second you enter you are expected to get out! Difficult to enjoy a quiet evening when you are constantly "harassed" by being asked, "would you like to have anything else after you meal", especially when you still busy with the meal in front of you!
Total lack of understanding that when one eats you do actually need to time to do just that, it would also help if the serving staff had command of the English language. We were served by this Hungarian female which had some difficulty in understanding that leaving us in peace to finish our meal was actually our right....LOL.

We ate in this restaurant whilst on a 2 day break in Grasmere and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We was'nt sure whether to try Sara's as it looks a little uninspiring during the day. The food was well cooked and hot which makes a change from luke warm food that is dished out in some places. The restaurant was full and the prices are reasonable, we shall certainly eat here again.

Ate here on a dismal November night. The restaurant is warmly lit by soft up lights and tea lights on each table, it creates a warm atmosphere, unlike some of the other places we passed, which were far too brightly lit for evening dining. The warmth is also in evidence from the welcome and friendly service from the staff. The food was good, a lovely smoked salmon risotto for starters and a nice crispy duck for mains. My husbands steak was fine but he really raved about their sticky toffee pudding. Prices were reasonable, especially as we took advantage of their early evening offer which included a free bottle of house wine, which was pretty good.
