We had a comfortable stay, the house had everything you could need, the weather was not good for us but we still got out and about, very comfy beds and yes the stairs are quite steep!!Very central to pubs, cafes and shops.
Two small niggles, the blinds let light in,middle floor rooms(just down the edges).
Neighbours at one side were noisy.
Enjoyable stay,many thanks.
Puddleduck House is situated in a quiet street within 2 minutes walk from all the amenities of Coniston. We found the house to be spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped with everything you could wish for.
The 3 bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious and the main bathroom deserves special mention with a huge roll top bath as well as the shower.
There were freshly cut flowers to welcome our arrival as well as a bottle of wine and a sumptious strawberry cheesecake.
Coniston itself is only a small village but there are 3 pubs, (The Yewdale Pub has the most welcoming bar staff I have ever come across) and plenty of shops for groceries and the usual range of gift and outdoor wear shops. A 15/20 minute drive brings you to the busy town of Ambleside if you need anything less relaxing.
We have rented properties in the Lake District for several years now and Puddleduck House if definitely the best we have found so far.
Have just spent a week here and it has been great despite the terrible weather.this is our first time to the lake district and it is stunning.the house is so homely very spoilt when we arrived with delicious cake and wine.the bed was so comfy and shower and bath really good.the house is very large so maybe a little big for just the two of us but weve loved it compared to our tiny home.friendly people in the area lovely dog friendly pubs.the dog's have had such a great week as the walks have been amazing.walking from coniston to tarn hows was really good, along the old railway line to torver and back along coniston lake again great.grizedale forest good and lake windermere.the only one thing we didn't do is climb old man coniston so we want to come back when we are fitter.thankyou for a great stay in a stunning location
If like most people you pick out a few places to wittle down till you decide which place to stay at , stop now and book puddleduck up straight away , this lovely house is so comfortable and spacious with every thing in the house you could possibly wish for .it is also in a great location in the beautiful village of Coniston just about 200yds from all the great dog friendly pubs and all the little shops . There are so many great walks in the nearby surrounding areas too, making this the ideal place to stay . Would not hesitate in booking up again when we visit the lakes next time
Wow what a house! A minutes walk to the village centre and all shops and pubs and a five minute stroll to the famous coniston lake. On arrival we found a bottle of wine and a gorgeous homemade cheesecake. Everything we needed was there, tea, coffe, sugar, milk, shower gel, washing powder etc etc so no quick dash to the shops on arrival. The house it's self was wonderful especially the top floor bathroom. The garden is a little off set to the property but not a problem. The garage was a bonus and there's a Webber BBQ. The views from the property and garden were glorious. All in all we'd return in a heartbeat. Chloe the owner was amazing before, during and after our stay. The residents that live in number 9 were so welcoming and full of useful advice on the area that we found helpful.
We truly did have a great holiday in Coniston and Puddleduck House is fantastic. We were two couples and it was great to have our own en suite on different floors. The bathroom upstairs is just perfect, so beautifully equipped and decorated, as is the whole house in fact. I really can't fault Puddleduck House. Also Coniston is a superb place to stay with shops, pubs and restaurants all virtually at the end of the road. The lake, which is just a short walk away, was the star of the show for me, i's beauty is stunning and photographer's dream! We also got out and about a bit including going to the motor museum nearby and having a go at segwaying in Grizedale Forest. We will be going back!
We had a lovely stay in Puddleduck House and heartily recommend it to anyone. The property was beautifully furnished, clean and very welcoming. The garden has views of the mountains and the house is situated just a few yards from the village center – no steep hills to climb, which is a bonus with young children. We spent most of our days locally around the lake but also ventured out by foot to Tarn Hows and by car to the villages of Hawkshead and Ambleside – the scenery is simply wonderful all around. You don’t need to leave the village though as there is so much to see and do right from the cottage door. Loved being in Puddleduck, hope to return very soon!
