Staying in Ambleside and visited this lovely area, Ordered lamb steak, could not fault it, generous portion, excellent. Lovely situation, clean and tidy. Will visit again next time I visit the Lake District

This is a great pub !! Loads of local real ales to choose from we went through them all !!! Brewery next door !! Oatmeal stout particularly nice . They also do beer bats so you can try 3 at once . The food is great lovely Sunday roast , nice quick service and great staff , if you are visiting coniston this pub is a must for food and drink !!!!

Stayed her from 09 until 16 September. The place was spotless and very welcoming. All the staff were friendly and we and our two friends had a great time. The breakfasts were brilliant and as for the evening meals - stupendous. My only advice to those eating there is wear loose clothes, you won't want to waste anything! Our room was comfortable, warm and cosy, and the bathroom was brilliant.

Room Tip: All rooms are first class

We ate here twice, on both occasions we were very happy with our meals, which were homemade, good sized portions. On the first night we had the chilli (not particularly spicy, just nice) and Cumberland sausage. The second night my husband had the chilli and I had roast pork loin which was on the specials board.

Good food, good prices, recommended.

We had a great weekend here . The food was excellent and good portions . Room in the annex was good with a brilliant power shower. As for breakfast !!!!! If you eat it all it will last you all day unless you climb " The Old Man " three times like we did :-) The staff at breakfast were particularly good and the dogs Buster and Mini would like to thank them for the sausages . Only downside was the cost . £260 for two nights ( 2 adults , 2 dogs ) is a lot . The thing that made it worse was the price of the (excellent ) beer at £3.60 for the low gravity Blue Bird bitter ( it's gorgeous ) going up to £4.80 for the amazingly drinkable 8.5% barley wine .
All and all a very enjoyable weekend and thanks to all the staff . If you need any help with quality control ( the beer ) I'm your man .
