“Absolutely amazing hotel.”

My boyfriend and I received a voucher for a 2 night stay in this hotel as a gift for Christmas. Having both never been to the Lakes before we weren't sure what to expect but we weren't disappointed. Staff are so friendly and they promote a lovely warm atmosphere in the hotel. Rooms are gorgeous. We upgraded to the suite which was lovely, like having our own little flat. We had breakfast both days as well which is lovely. Excellent service and food.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would definitely stay again.

We booked in at the hotel on a KGB deal on arrival the grounds where stunning, mountains on one side and Coniston lake on the other. Our welcome from the front of house was great and that continued throughout our stay.
The hotel in general is a little tired and would benefit from a facelift but it is a warm and welcoming place.
Our room was basic but had everything we needed and it was comfortable, it also had the added bonus of waking up to the grounds and Lake Coniston,
The breakfast was adequate but the full English was a little dissappointing very minimal and on our first day quite cold, my wife had it the second day and it was much better. I had the haddock and egg which quite frankly was a joke very small and non appetising.
We booked for evening meals on both nights it was very good if you go through KGB a three course will cost you £20 great value.
Would we stay at this hotel again most definately,

Room Tip: Try and get a room overlooking the lake

Enjoyed a lovely trip to the hotel last weekend. Receptionist (Laurette I think) was lovely and couldn't do enough to assist, a real credit to the hotel. As a family with a dog, we were in room 2 which was spacious and tastefully decorated. Room and bathroom were extremely large and comfortable. Grounds are beautiful, you are overlooking a lake. Would definitely return.

Stayed here on a KGB deals, but upgraded to Room 6 which had been newly redecorated. This was a corner room with views out to the lake and out to Coniston Old Man. It was beautifully decorated with good quality furniture, large 4 poster bed. We found it really restful, the bed was very comfy, and it was nice being able to walk down to the nearby jetty without really needing to leave the hotel grounds. Also, parking in Coniston is always a big plus!
The staff were really attentive and friendly. I was impressed at their lighter choices for breakfast, including porridge which was lovely. We also really liked the bar area which was really peaceful.
The only negatives were that Room 6 is right at the top of the stairs so a little bit of noise does carry which if you're a light sleeper might bother you; the toiletries weren't replaced after night 1 & we had used all of the shower gel, and finally if you ask for poached egg on toast you get just that - 1 poached egg on toast, so be specific and ask for more if you want it! As with many hotels the WiFi was pretty poor; apparently the whole of the lakes is slowly being upgraded to fibre optic, so fingers crossed for the future.

Stayed here for one night with five mates as we were walking up Coniston Old Man and then going out for a few jars!

Nice hotel, spotlessly clean, good breakfast, adequate rooms and friendly staff. Reasonably priced and just suited our needs perfectly.

I paid for a 2 night stay for my fiance's birthday (a KGB deal) and we travelled in February. We loved everything about our stay, the room was beautifully decorated in a contemporary style, the breakfast was yummy with views across the hills (that were covered in snow), just stunning.

My only small gripe would be that my hair straighteners set the smoke alarms off which was a bit of a pain because the only plug sockets were underneath the alarm but it didn't ruin our stay, we had a good giggle with the staff member who had to phone us to check that we were ok!

Highly recommend this hotel, just make sure you take the car ferry across from Bowness, it cuts out so much travel time!!
