Hollands is an excellent Cafe serving good Coffee and light bites. The owner is very attentive providing great service and a wealth of knowledge of the area. Hollands also offer good Bed & Breakfast accommodation

“Best Coffee We Had in The Lake District”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

Holland's coffee was a welcome change from some of the 'on the road' drips you get when travelling.
Staff couldn't have been friendlier and those in the coffee shop when we were there seemed very content to kick back with a drink and maybe a great piece of homemade cake or scones.
A wee hidden treasure in Coniston!

“Excellent food and ambiance”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

The food was really very good, far better than we expected from a cafe. The ambiance is lovely, you could easily spend a day eating and drinking coffee here.

“Hollands (the cafe) Review”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

I'd like to start by giving a positive comment on the marketing and overall look of this establishment. It looks very chic and inviting, like a London cafe. It's also opposite the car and coach park. That's where my positive comments cease.

We were "greeted" by the most miserable, unresponsive assistant I've ever come across. Ordering a breakfast seemed like we were wasting their time. We ordered a full English and a sausage bap. The full English (£7.95 which didn't include tea and toast) was missing a tomato, the sausage wasn't very nice, it was hard and tasted like it had been hanging around and was the size of a chipolata. The sausage bap was bland and included chipolatas too.

The toast was delayed, as if an after thought ([photo below] and when we complained about the quality of the toast and the time it took getting to us, the assistant did ask if we wanted another plate of toast (but with no apology) - my boyfriend had nearly finished his breakfast and asked for his money back for the toast.

The assistant brought another round of toast, much to our surprise and we again stated we'd asked for our money back for the toast. The assistant didn't apologise or even acknowledge our feelings, in fact said nothing and brought us the refund for the toast.

The following day we visited another cafe, just opposite the Mountain shop in Coniston. A shop assistant from the Sweet Shop/Post Office, recommended this place - we had a brilliant breakfast there, which included toast, tea and two normal sized sausages and smiling staff in with the price. We will be leaving a review for that cafe shortly.

As my mother once said, all that glitters isn't necessarily gold...
