Your experience is definitely not in line with our normal service standards and we are unaware of any specific problems as you did not bring this to our attention at the time. Our kitchen always remains open for orders up to 9 pm so we feel it unlikely that you were refused food prior to this time without our knowledge. If you arrived after this time, we would have been happy to make a special arrangement to accommodate you if pre-advised. We have never received any poor feedback regarding room cleanliness or comfort as our housekeeping staff are highly trained to ensure that rooms are properly presented. We have invested in new duvets and pillows to ensure comfort. Linen is of a high quality and is supplied by a well-known laundry contractor. We are naturally very upset and concerned at your poor experience but also wonder if your comments and ratings are truly genuine as we asked for your other review to be removed as it was personally offensive.

We stayed here for New Year, the room was a good size and was pleasent with a view of the mountains out of the window. We ate from the bar menu, the food was basic pub food but very nice and at breakfast, my partner who is a vegetarian was catered for. The staff are very friendly and we would definately return.

A mate and I were travelling North and as he knows all there is to know about Donald Campbell and Blue Bird we called at Coniston. No better place to stay, right bang in the centre. With the Blue Bird museum a few hundred yards away. The lake where the Blue Bird was raced just a short way off, with it's new restaurant and friendly staff ,ducks and swans to feed what more does one want?
The Yewdale staff were very accommodating and friendly, inc. of Millie the dog.Comfortable bed, most importantly every where was clean, breakfast was really good. The land lady/cook deserves a 5***** mention.
My mate has booked for the New Year bash they are having and taking my prezzie for Millie.
In reply to Debbi 187069. There's always some one ready to knock every thing.I once stayed in a 5***** hotel in KL and a Aussie wrote. what a dump.

After a long morning calling at various villages around western Windermere we decided to have lunch in Coniston Village. We had decided on the menu at The Yew Dale hotel right in the centre of the village. They allowed our pet dog into the bar area, the menu was varied and for the lakes area reasonable. The food was very good and the landlord very pleasant and chatty defining telly we will go again. Well done The Yew Dale Hotel.

Once again we returned to Yewdale, it was like visiting old friends, because this is how you are treated, this is our third holiday here now, and we will be going back again, and just cant wait, we had room 4 again which is gorgeous and spacious and facing the church, even on a busy road its so quiet, the room is spotless, warm, and the decor pretty, its also now a family room a single and a double bed - comes highly recommended, tv, coffee, tea, hair dryer, clean towels every day. Staff are friendly and Peter and Beverley the owners serve you breakfast with enthusiasm, they cannot do enough for you, the brekkie is scrumptious and the bar and dining area's are spotless. A good area with lots of shops around you and in a good position to tour the rest of the lakes, theres plenty of books and leaflets around for you to read prior to your days out and they are only too happy to tell you the best places to go, highly highly recommmended. see you soonish. xx

Just had a nights stay at the Yewdale Hotel this weekend. Booked at short notice and had to say we were a little apprehensive after reading some of the comments on tripadvisor. However....we had a lovely stay at the hotel, the room was a small double, but we had already been told this when we booked. The room was very clean, a little dated maybe, but nothing that you couldn't live with. The staff at the hotel were all extremely helpful and kind. We took our dog with us (first experience for him in a hotel), we were allowed to eat our evening meal in the bar area with our dog in tow and the following morning a table was set up for us in this area for breakfast. Breakfast was lovely and they even went to the trouble of cooking a special sausage for Max our dog. The hotel is in a great position for walks and seeing Coniston and its also perfect as a base for touring other parts of the Lakes. We would have no hesitation in booking in at the Yewdale again. Thanks to the staff for making our stay there very pleasurable.

Just had a lovely BH weekend here. It was a last minute booking via Late rooms. A birthday treat spent with my husband and 5 year old daughter. We were greeted pleasantly and shown to our room. We stayed in room 4 which has a double bed and a single bed (for daddy :D) The room is spacious and had everything we needed. TV, phone, en suite, tea, coffee, shower gel, hairdryer, comforting decor and a lot of character. The owners (Bev and Peter) even provided a good selection of books on the lake district in case you are newbies like us. I must note this hotel although old is full of character, is spotless and very well cared for. We ate in the restaurant twice at evening time (Friday and Sunday) and both times the food and service were great. Every morning we had breakfast and Bev and Peter could not do enough for us. My daughter wanted apple juice one morning, normally they serve orange juice and Bev went that extra mile to make sure she got it (its the little things that are the important things to me). When we were stuck on decisions of where to go everyone helped us and made suggestions. Will definitely return here. My daughter actually cried when she left Bev. Lovely, hospitable people - thank you for a great weekend.
