“Interesting”

I don't even like beer but 2 ladies were dragged along by their male partners! It turned out to be very interesting and informative and you get 3 half-pints of beer included at the end of the tour.

“Excellent tour, ale and the best ploughmans lunch ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

Jennings produce some of the best cask ales you can get. We like the dark ones and Snecklifter is one of our favourites. The tour was more interesting than the average brewery tour and our host Geoff (Jeff?) was very knowledgeable and helpful. The ales were all excellent and in with the tour is three halves to test for yourself. All very good. The ploughman's lunch for two people was the best I have ever had. Wonderful selection and beautifully presented. The staff could not do too much for you. A lovely afternoon in this lovely town. Thank you all

“Good Tour - Great Ales!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2013

My wife and I were the only people on the tour, so we felt at ease to ask questions and wander around at our leisure. There wasn't a lot of activity in the brewery but that's normal apparently, and some of the rooms look like they need some TLC, but we thoroughly enjoyed the informative tour, tasting the malted barley and touching the different hops. We enjoyed sampling all the ales and pulling our own pints at the end. Worth a visit if you like ale!

“Happy hour!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

This was an interesting and enjoyable tour, our lady guide was very friendly and knowledgable. She gave us a brief history of the brewery before the tour. We learned a lot about cask beers and the brewing process. We were given a taste of the various malted grains used and peered into one of the huge fermentation vessels, what heavenly smells. Finally we gathered in the cosy bar (decorated with old photos and brewing memorabilia) to sample the beers, three samples each but who was counting.... wonderful ale. We felt so pleased we had travelled to Cockermouth on the bus!
The tour cost £8, excellent value....

Really enjoyed the tour, the lady was excellent and made the tour very enjoyable and the ale tasting after was a nice end to the learning experience of how ale is made
