“Excellent stay in a great location”
Reviewed August 2, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We loved our stay at Church View cottage, it was a last minute booking but we were so pleased that we chose it! We'd never been to the Lake District before and it turns out Cockermouth is a great place to stay to visit the lakes and the coast nearby.

The cottage is small but very cosy and is right next to the town centre. There isn't parking outside the house, but we never found it a problem to pay and park in the car park which was literally a minutes walk away.

It was everything we wanted for a short break away, would highly recommend!

central location in cockermouth. Small adequate for 2 terraced cottage. Compact kitchen watch your head ouch! 2 nice rivers with lovely walks. Worth a drive to St Bees coast. 2 nice pubs within a few yards one dosnt serve food but really nice ales and friendly. Nice english chippy on high st with plenty of pubs we liked the Bush and Bridge inn. You cant park outside and nearby parking is time restricted but you can park for free about 5mins walk away

“Cosy character cottage”
Reviewed November 7, 2014 for a stay in November 2014

Really pleased with our few days in this lovely Cottage for our mini honeymoon. Very impressed with Cockermouth. Lovely pub next door but one called the Bitter End with superb home cooked food and an entertaining pub quiz on the Tuesday night. Breathtaking scenery and can highly recommend a visit to St. Bees on the coast, it has an enormous beach and one of the best I have seen outside Cornwall. Thank you Bob and Liz also for the Cava which was a nice surprise on our arrival.

“We'll definitely be back!”
Reviewed November 4, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Fabulous self contained base for exploring this beautiful part of the country. It's all there - nothing missing; well equipped, comfortable, cozy, joining information, the location... it's all there. The pub - 3 doors down was great, with good atmosphere and good food. Yes, parking is a slight faff, but easily sorted with a little planning. We definitely will be back!

“Comfortable”

Church view cottage is a very compact place and comfortable, centrally located for the lakes and coast.
Cockermouth is a beautiful town, the locals are very friendly and there are plenty of pubs and places to eat.
The only downside to the property is the lack of a parking you have to use pay and display, free parking is available if you are willing to walk.

“small and friendly”
Reviewed July 1, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We found this little cottage a bit on the small side but adequate for our needs,
it was very clean throughout and we liked the four poster bed and plenty of hot water, the only down side was that the small yard at the rear was shared so we could not sit out in the sunshine otherwise we would be looking in our neighbours window, the cottage is very close to the shops and restaurants with the nearest pub just two doors down but we recommend The Swan,a bit further up on the right,we got a very warm welcome and so did our little dog,so overall we enjoyed our stay and loved Cockermouth although upside down at the minute with all the roadworks on main street but we will be back! “Cosy, quirky and perfect for two”
Reviewed February 27, 2014 for a stay in February 2014

Loved this cottage when we stayed, the fire kept us entertained for hours as well as nice and warm. We found it to be well equipped (somethings aren't in their obvious place due to the compact size but easy to get used to). The fact it is opposite a church with a bright blue face means it is always easy to find out where you live and make your way back, even from a far on walks away from the town! The location is ideal with Sainsburys a 5/10 min walk away and the Bitter End pub 2 doors down, along with a street of quirky shops and family businesses. We did this trip on public transport from Wigan (train to Penrith, then a bus to Cockermouth) and it is easily do-able, the buses seem to be fairly reliable (maybe a bit expensive) but still would def do it again.
Overall we both loved our stay at Church View and would hope to visit again in the near future, Thankyou to Bob and Liz for everything!
