We stayed for 2 nights over the May bank holiday. The staff were friendly, helpful and so welcoming. The hotel itself was beautiful and the food was excellent. Would definately return and certainly recommend.

We stayed for one night last weekend as I was playing a gig in Whitehaven and wanted somewhere nice & close. What as superb place. It looks great from the front & doesn't disappoint inside. All the staff from owners to waiters were lovely and very accommodating. Room was small but perfect for a short stay. Everything clean & well presented. Breakfast was superb, couldn't have been better. Cockermouth is lovely, it was so long since I've visited & we had a great time. Very much recommended.

We stayed for one night on the May bank holiday weekend. The hotel was very welcoming and nice and handy for an easy walk into Cockermouth town centre. We stopped off at the brewery for a great combination of tea and scone and bacon butty and beer! as well as having a look around the nice shops in Cockermouth. Our room was at the top of the building with a velux window, so no outlook which was a shame. However, it was clean and nicely decorated with a shower with good water pressure and plenty of hot water.

Dinner was a great experience. The staff are lovely and the food fantastic. I especially enjoyed the surprise pudding which was a little selection of lots of different lovely puds.

Breakfast was busy with plenty of home made jams and marmalades, a well cooked cumbrian breakfast with lovely sausage and plenty of tea! The staff can't do enough to help and were pleasant and cheery throughout our stay.

Room Tip: Our attic rooms didn't have any view, so ask for one with a nice outlook if possible.

Four years since we were last here and its still as good as before.
Good clean rooms ,wonderful food and really friendly staff.

If you book to stay make sure you book to eat here too.
Homemade bread, pickles and preserves together with fine dining.
Right in town centre with good parking.

A definate must stay here.

Picked this place up on Late Rooms when we decided at the last minute to go away for Easter and were very impressed by what we found! The hotel is in a great situation in the center of the town and is well appointed and spotlessly clean. The hosts welcome you with open arms and a cheery disposition and cannot do enough for you. Food wise this is one of the best we have encountered in a small hotel so make sure you get to eat in the restaurant as well as enjoying the fantastic cooked breakfast.
Lastly a mention for young Cain who had never served a floater coffee before but became an expert by the time we departed!!

Room Tip: We had room three which opened onto the balcony.

Stayed here for one night when attending event locally. Arrived just too late for dinner but asked for recommendation and was directed to a great place not far away. Bed was one of most comfortable I have found in a small hotel. A place that is worth coming back to when I have more time.

What a quiet friendly hotel!
I booked a single room dinner, bed & breakfast deal for just £99.
I was upgraded to a large twin room which had a comfortable sofa.
Dinner was excellent and breakfast was superb.
The staff were friendly and very helpful.
The building is characterful.
Highly recommended.
