On arrival we were immediatly impressed by the flower displays and the overall care taken with the outside appearance.
The accolades here are continuous and rarely have we stayed in a hotel where there is just nothing detrimental to comment on.
Lets start with the staff who clearly enjoy their work, smile all day and night and cannot do enough to make your stay a pleasant one.
Next the room - spacious and spotless and very comfortable and you will never find a better bathroom in a 4* hotel - gleaming it was, large mirror with loads of space. The room itself was just as clean (every day) with a large tv with multi channels inc. SKY.
The dining rooms and bar were just as comfortable and the food was superb and very reasonable for the considerable quality.
Breakfast had everything you could ask for with table service and a multi choice of freshly cooked bacon eggs etc.
The hotel prides itself on serving local produce and and the menu lists all the local suppliers.
I could go on and on about this place that sits right at the top of the many places we have stayed at. Taking all into consideration our stay was excellent value for money. Well done to the staff and management.

The Trout was recommended to us by a friend who lives near Cockermouth and despite her own high praise it surpassed all our expectations - wonderful hotel with superb modern rooms which have all the amenities you expect of a 5 star establishment and the quality of the locally sourced food is incredible - when you combine this with the friendly but highly professional staff you have the complete package. Just excellent!

This is a place I have stayed on many occasions but not since the floods of 2009. It has been refurbished well and everywhere is pleasant. The staff were very pleasant, helpful and efficient. Service was good in the bar. We ate in both the Derwent Restaurant and the bar. The food in the restaurant was very tasty, ballotine of pigeon followed by venison for me but the portions were enormous. This was even more the case in the bar meals, three people could have lived off the portion I had of steak and ale pie. The waiter, Mikey, deserves a special mention for opening our wine and immediatelly taking it back because it wasn't up to scratch.

The room was a superior exec with balcony. It was very comfortable with good facilities. We had to leave the balcony door open for ventilation but otherwise OK.

Room Tip: Pick your days, prices do vary, use their website it's useful.

The Trout Hotel is centrally located with easy access to the shops on the main street. The entire hotel is spotlessly clean throughout. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was very spacious and well furnished with a large bathroom and a great view over the river. We would stay there again.

This hotel nestled on the edge of Cockermouth has been family owned and run for many years and is a delight to visit for either a meal or better still to stay in one of their wonderful rooms.
Over the years I have stayed here both on business and pleasure and every time is a great experience to be served great food by wonderful staff, always sorry to leave.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms at the back of the hotel overlooking the river are quiet and peaceful, rooms...

We were very impressed with the Trout afternoon tea. The staff were very helpful and polite and we felt that nothing would be too much to ask for. The service overall was good, the food was very nice. Very good scones, cake and Sandwich. Quantity and quality are top notch
If you have not been, go soon. It is a lovely AA four star hotel in lovely surroundings by the river. Perfect afternoon.

Greeted by welcoming and friendly staff and that continued throughout my stay. Room was decorated lovely and very clean. Food in the terrace bar was good. I had an early start and they provided an early breakfast which is so unusual. Absolutely perfect!
