“Fantastic stay - Every time!”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

I've been lucky enough to stay at the trout hotel twice now - once for my cousins wedding, and secondly for an anniversary get-away. The rooms are fantastic, the beds are incredibly comfortable and there's a real feeling of luxury in the sheets! The staff are always more than happy to help. We had a 3 course meal in the Derwent Restaurant - we weren't disappointed! The portions were tremendous and the quality of food was exceptional. I'd definitely recommend it.

I was booked into the hotel by a colleague (who is a local) while on a business trip and advised I would enjoy my stay - he was not wrong, the reception process was faultless, the quality of the room and public areas in the hotel are excellent offering modern convenience and style but in sympathy with the structure and build of the original building.
Unlike many chain hotels I was not treated as a number but more like a friend, the recommendations in the restaurant were honest and the food very enjoyable and good value for money but leave room for breakfast as it's local and very good!

My partner, brother and I have recently returned from the Trout Hotel after spending Christmas there. I cannot speak highly enough of the Hotel and the staff. I have stayed in the past and always had a lovely time but this stay was simply fantastic.

The rooms were stunning on arrival. We were made to feel so welcome and put very much in the Christmas spirit!

The food at each and every meal was faultless. The chef and his team, as well as the staff who attended to us, worked so hard and each dining experience was faultless.

The hotel also organised a coach trip on Boxing Day which my brother went on. He had a great time.

Thank you to the Trout Hotel for a wonderful Christmas break. We were completely spoiled! It's highly likely that we will be back next year!

Room Tip: It's got to be the river view! Very peaceful and relaxing.

Stayed 21st December ( about the 6th time since the floods) The hotel is totally refurbished and first class
The rooms are big and king size beds, large bathroom fully tiled. Cannot say anything bad about it except that we had a bar meal because the restaurant was full.
The food was excellent but I must say my cod was very dissapionting. £11.95 pd chips and mushy peas, the cod was tasteless andostly skin and batter, hardly any fish!.
The breakfast was nice with plenty choice.
I will stay again but will pass on the fish!

15 friends stayed the night at the trout after a meal at the hotels. The whole deal was very good value and the food and accommodation was of a high quality.
There are plenty of traditionally furnished rooms where guests can relax and chat after their meal.
The hotel rooms are quite modern having been refurbished since the floods of 2009. Many of our friends commented on the god quality comfortable beds.
To be particularly complemented was the attitude of the staff who could not have been more helpful

Room Tip: Ground floor if you have problems with the stairs. i do not think there was a lift.

This hotel is amazing , we have stayed at the Trout hotel 3 times now and had three different rooms and they have all been lovely, it is very clean , the staff are extremely friendly and the food is excellent. I can't say a bad word about this hotel.

I also held my daughters christening last year at the trout and it was excellent.

Room Tip: 220 family room with bunk beds but all rooms are very good
