This is a lovely small and friendly hotel that offered excellent accomadation for our mid week stay. Our family room was a good size and a cot was provided for our 4 month old at no extra cost. The room was clean, beds very comfy, plenty of bed linen/pillows/towels. The condiment tray was very well stocked. The lounge areas are comfy and welcoming. We ate at the hotel on the first night and although the wait was a bit too long in between asking for a table and orders being taken the food was very good, well presented (the home made chips were fab!) and plentiful portions. Breakfast was excellent, good portion sizes served by very friendly staff. In fact the staff here are excellent, everyone being very helpful and concerned that your stay is a good one (which is not the case everywhere!). We would certainly stay here again and very much recomend Broughton Craggs.

Visited Broughton Craggs earlier in the year and reviewed it and said we would go back. Well we did. And it was every bit as welcoming and enjoyable as the previous visit. The staff are great and the food, should we say plentiful, you had to roll me out of the restaurant. Keep up the good work and see you in the future.

This was our second stay at Broughton Craggs and once again we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. After 3 nights Full Board in April we returned home with our batteries recharged and booked straight away for another 5 nights (one with our two daughters 18 and 21 who joined us).

In the opinion of all four of us, this hotel has a unique blend of quirkiness and attentiveness which really works. The management, Dan and Lisa, clearly strive to look after their guests from the moment they arrive and their staff quite obviously follow by example.

Chris the barman has a wonderful chatty and pleasant sense of humour and adds to the flavour of the atmosphere. Dennis with his helpful daily serving of wisdom of local tourist attractions and Lakeland scenery at breakfast is very helpful (he also keeps the gardens neat and tidy). The breakfast waitresses and evening staff with their friendly banter and their unsuccessful attempts to pile so much food on our plates so as to force us to send something back!

The breakfasts here are so wholesome we didn't need much more to eat before we returned for a delicious and well presented evening meal. The Carvery nights on Sun and Thur are a pleasant change, but having sampled most of the of menu choices between us, on both our visits, everything comes highly recommended.

We prefer rooms with a view of the fells so Rm 10 is our first choice; clean, spacious, furnished with good quality furniture and very comfortable. The girls were in Rm 1 which was to the rear but it was equally clean, spacious and comfortable.

Will we be back? Most definately, in October we hope! See you all then guys and keep up those high standards. Well done each and every one of you.

PS - part of my job involves teaching people about 'Quality of Service' and you folks achieve that hands down. You can't avoid hiccups with equipment and building fitments, but it's the way you handle these irritating issues that makes the difference.

Staff very friendly.....no running water in our room on arrival so 2 hours later we were given room 2 which was awful, tiny, not very clean, roasting hot and i could only open the old sash window about 4 inches and had to put a teacup under it to keep it open!Very little in the way of apology was forthcoming.Problems like this happen i know but it's the way it was reacted to that disappointed us.
Did'nt eat in the restaraunt but breakfast was good, but the tea and coffee were out of a machine and sauces out of a sachet...a bit like a cafe.
Fantastic location with lovely views.
We booked with groupon at £139 for two nights which was half price. If i'd have paid £278 i would have been very very disappointed.

My wife and I and my cousin and his wife recently stayed at this hotel and absolutely loved it. The staff went out of the way to make sure everything about our stay was fantastic. Even though they have a great restaurant in the hotel they even recommended places to eat in nearby Cockermouth. The grounds are fantastic and the views were gorgeous. Its not often we would return to the same hotel twice but we would definitely return to Boughton Craggs!

Room Tip: If you ask for one of the front rooms you get to enjoy the fantastic views from your room

Just returned from this hotel after a two night stay with my husband and 3 year old daughter. Had a lovely time, especially because the atmosphere is so relaxed and friendly. The hotel is around 20 mins from Keswick and 5 from Cockermouth making it a great location for exploring the lakes. The hotel has lovely grounds and beautiful views. We stayed in the family room and whilst the decor is a little dated, it was very clean
and spacious. The food is excellent value for money. The menu includes typical favourites such as lasagne and steaks at a very reasonable cost. The food is home cooked and good portion sizes. The puddings are amazing! Breakfast is cooked to order and plentiful. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxed break in a friendly environment. The atmosphere in the hotel is lovely, especially in the bar area and on the sun terrace which is a wonderful place for afternoon tea. We will be back!

We had a 2 day break at this hotel and loved it.
We were on a voucher deal and didn't expect too much but we were really blown away with the quality of this hotel. The meals are top quality and the service to match but the prices are more pub grub prices. Great Value quality dining.
Staff are very friendly, rooms are clean and spacious and the beds are comfortable.
They also have Wifi that actually works as advertised.
Don't hesitate just book it! :)
