We are frequent visitors to the Spice Club and our visit last eve was nothing more than 'Completely Satisfied'.Jimmy,his family and staff are a credit to this successful business which has gone from strength in the market town of Cockermouth and i would strongly recommend a visit you will not be disappointed!

Went Sunday night and the restaurant was full. Good job we booked. We found this place to be a little odd. Tables were oddly arranged in alcoves, under the stairs, near kitchen and layout was just not brilliant. Staff tried to rush us to order but we didnt want that and despite telling several staff they just ignored us. We had been warned about that from locals. We had Tandoori duck and King Prawn Puri starters. The duck was tasteless but maybe thats how it is. We have not had it before.KP Puri, soggy thick puri, hardly any King prawn (maybe 2 chopped up) and very very mild. Prefer ours a bit spicier. Both dishes were however beautifully presented. Waiter tried to put cutlery on table despite it being covered in bits of popadom, mango and bits of lettuce from the starter. Had to ask him to wipe it but he just placed cutlery on the mess and came back with a cloth to wipe it. Mains were ok but the chicken I had was extremely dry. Rice was in the tiniest little bowl and cheese and garlic naan was soggy verging on the uncooked. Not at all crispy around the sides like most. Not cheap at over £50. Would I go again? No. There are much better Indian restaurants.

Really impressed by this restaurant, My husband and I didnt have a reservation but decided to try anyway....On walking into the restaurant we were very doubtfull we would get a seat as the restaurant was very very busy, when we asked the waiter he was so nice and told us no problem,it may be a little while but he would get us a seat!
Food was lovely, Staff friendly and overall a lovely meal! Would def go back!

We eat all over the country and this has to be our favourite indian restaurant, the staff are excellent and always accommodating, the food is amazing with my favourite being the north indian garlic. people need to understand that waiting is part and parcel of getting good food, keep up the good work guys! also the celebrity seating area is a must.

My wife and I ate a meal here one midweek evening during a Lake District break.
The restaurant was quieter than expected, perhaps we were late diners, it was after 9.30.
All the food we ordered was very good, although the service was a little hurried, almost as if they were wanted to close. We tried to order coffee, only to be told the machine had been switched off, and when my wife suggested a night cap, we were told the bar was shut. It was 10.20 on the dot, must be early to bed in Cumbria.
Will certainly eat here again on our next trip, but must remember to dine earlier!
