Spent a two night break at the hotel, the owners looked after us very well, very friendly. Great central location to walk, shop and relax at the spa. Also has a car park on site, very handy for the Lake District.

We have just had a lovely weekend here through kgb deals and we couldnt fault at all if we really had to pick it would be a flat screen tv haha the people who run it were perfect hosts.the lady that booked us in and served breakfast was lovely and chatty and informed us of a lovely chip shop first night as we just wanted a quick eat .the breakfast was lovely and served on hot plates which is always good....the room we stayed in 14 was very clean and spacious a lovely 4 poster and a jacuzzi .it was 5 mins to town centre were there are plent of places to eat ..we went to matthews bistro and the food and owner were lovely...so in all it was a very good weekend and after some of the bad reviews this place has recieved in the past well all i can say is we nevercame across nothing at all except friendliness so we would return again ..thank you all for making our stay a pleasure xx

we have just stayed for 2 nights - we have 3 dogs and were pleasantly surprised that when we rang to book it wasnt a problem to bring all 3 of them. When we got there we were greeted by paul and shown our room which certainly has the wow factor no 17. Lovely large room with 4 poster be and large bathroom with jacuzi bath. The breakfast was superb. Our room had patio doors so we could park right outside the doors and load the dogs straight from our room, and also easy to take them for a walk late at night .Love the spa passes at the salutation lovely spa .The lodge is in a really convenient place you can walk up into ambleside and also lots of lovely walks on your doorstep. We will definitely be back - Well done Ambleside Lodge true value for money .

Room Tip: all the rooms looked fab from what we could see.

My wife and I have just returned from a great weekend at the lakes staying in the family run Ambleside Lodge.

I regularly use trip advisor when choosing accommodation but I have learned to read between the lines when reviewing genuine comments from genuine travellers and whingers and I am pleased I was right again this time.

We found the hotel room immaculate and a very nice size. The breakfast was lovely, hot, plentiful and very tasty. Paul (owner) and his parents very courteous (his mum Joan is adorable with a lovely jocular nature).

The hotel is in a great location a few minutes walk from the town centre and the lake the other way so you have the best of both worlds as far as location is concerned.

For any of you reading this you will also read the negative comments but I have stayed in a lot of hotels and this is by far the biggest injustice with regards to the negative comments.

Paul, Tommy and Joan, thank you for great weekend...................Ian & Tracy, Liverpool.

Just got back from Ambleside Lodge. My husband , my two dogs and I had a pleasant stay. Paul so welcoming. Stayed one night very comfortable room four poster bed n spa bath (fool proof instructions to operate it) good night sleep after busy day. Nice breakfast. Don't understand the comments on previous reviews as Paul and his parents work hard to make your stay a pleasant one. The location is great. We would stay there again. Overall if you want a pleasant stay in Ambleside at a good price stay here. If you want a 5 star hotel book a 5 star hotel and pay more! Anyone who has complained on this site about this lodge is expecting too much for the price paid simple!

Despite negative reviews we could not fault this hotel. Our room was well appointed with modern solid wood furniture. The place was clean and the breakfast which was included in the price a very nice added bonus. The staff were friendly and willing to help. The building is old and therefore there are areas which need somé TLC, but a lot less than other hotels we have stayed in and for a lot more money! The location was excellent within Ambleside as it was quiet and yet still a short stroll to the town centre. Unlike most other B&Bs which were often situated right on the busy one way system through town.
We found Ambleside to be over busy and over priced. Pubs and restaurants were in the main at least double what we anticipated for food and drinks were also inflated. The town was full of bus trips meaning you had to constantly step of the pavement onto busy roads to avoid collissions. If you like outdoor clothing shops then this is definitely the place for you. Will visit this hotel again - but avoid the town centre at all costs.
