A second visit to a fabulous place.
Loved every moment of it.
Excellent room of a high hotel standard. Absolutely spotless and well presented.
Breakfast was delicious and fast with great service.
Hope to come back soon.

Room Tip: The higher in the building you are the better the view of the Langdales.

We booked for two nights stay in a standard room. The room was clean and welcoming, the heating was on which made it very cosy after a long walk. We liked the large mugs in our room for the tea and coffee. TV is small but it was a standard room. The breakfast was excellent well presented and hot ( the bacon was the best I have ever had). It is ideally situated and an easy level walk into Ambleside. Great value for money would go again!

Booked for 4 nights in the Rock and Roll room, as partner is a Rock and Roller himself, and we thought it would be fun.
The facilities were excellent, and the spa bath was wonderful.
Richard was a very good mine host, and always helpful.
The breakfasts were excellent, and all the staff/family were extremely courteous and friendly.
Would happily stay here again,

My wife with wheelchair and i stayed in the africa room for two days. We were greeted in the car park and imeidately offered assistance and really made to feel welcome. The service was second to none they could not do enough for us. Our host recommended places to eat "which were brilliant" to room service. Definately one to stay in again.

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of August 2012. The accommodation was lovely and Richard and the staff were very friendly and caring. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts which set us in good stead for our 3 days of hill walking and climbing marathons! Richard always had time for a chat and offered information on walks he himself had done and always asked us how we had got on with our expeditions. The room was clean and cared for. It was about a 5 min walk to the lake and 10 mins into Ambleside itself. The guests were of varying ages and always said hello to each other each morning at breakfast. We had a fantastic time and will most certainly be recommending Wanslea to our friends and we are already planning when to come back again. We are missing all of you and the fells already. Hoping to see you again soon.

My friend chose the Wanslea, and whilst I was initially afraid that it might be a bit twee and full of elderly couples, this place thankfully seems to have moved with the times. Although it still retains the feel of a traditional family run guesthouse, it has been decorated and furnished in fairly modern style. Our bedroom generally seemed to be fitted out to a higher standard than the price bracket, although unfortunately the laminate flooring in the shower room wasn't in the best condition.

However, I've got to say that the proprietor could not have been more obliging on our arrival. We checked in after a extremely wet days walking on Scafell Pike, with most of our geared soaked through. The guy very kindly took all our gear to the boiler room and handed it to us dry the following morning! Excellent service and not a penny extra for his trouble.

The breakfast comprised the usual English B&B fare, but all good quality. Order sheets are completed the night before and left in the hallway for collection.

The place is situated in easy walking distance of the town centre, although it may not always be possible to park on site as there are only a limited number of spaces.

The Wanslea certainly proved to be very good value for the Lake District, actually being £2 a night cheaper than a twin room in a local YHA!

Room Tip: Our room faced to the rear away from the main road. Very quiet and pleasant rural outlook.
