We have just returned from Ferndale Lodge where we had a lovely stay. Would thoroughly recommend this b and b. It is very close to the shops and restaurants and the local amenities in Ambleside, plus it has the advantage of having good car parking. The breakfasts are lovely and we looked forward to ours everyday. I would love to stay here again.

Lovely place.. Very clean and tidy .. Only one niggle the water pressure was low so it was a long shower for me and my hair... Breakfast was very nice good choice as not everyone wants a full English breakfast every morning .. Great location for pubs and shops .. Private parking which is good but you could get blocked in if you arrive early ... All in all a very nice place ... Many thanks we will be staying again

Room Tip: Room at back to avoid the road noise

Really nice bed and breakfast. Clean modern rooms with all facilities you'd expect - i.e. good sized bed, tea & coffee making facilities, en suite shower room, freeview tv, adjustable heating, large wardrobe etc. Our room, #2, also had a two seater sofa and dressing table and good views from two sash windows. Breakfast was good with a range of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and juices.. plus the cooked breakfast and tea / coffee, staff were flexible if you wanted anything different from the stated menu - e.g. poached eggs instead of fried, brown or white toast. The only thing that let it down was the squeaky floorboards in the room above, luckily our upstairs neighbours went to bed early - but they got up early too, therefore so did we! We would consider staying again, but in a room with no-one above us.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the top floor.

A peaceful and cute lodge in the heart of Ambleside. The staff has been caring and helpful all the time, the room was clean and very good both in terms of furniture and position, and the breakfast... amazing! Generally, a nice informal atmosphere which perfectly match with the holiday mood!

Stayed at Ferndale Lodge this weekend for a romantic getaway. Our room (room 6) had everything we needed and had a lovely view over the Fell. In terms of location, it couldn't be any closer to the town centre which was perfect. It's just less than a mile to the lake which was great for a lazy sod like me! All in all we would definitely go back again.

Just arrived back from Ferndale Lodge. Just like to say we had a very good stay here. We were here for 2 nights. We had the double room at the front, which can be a bit noisy with traffic, as there's no double glazing fitted. This wasn't a problem to us but if you like piece and quite at night ask for a room at the back. As far as the room goes, very clean and comfortable. Bathroom a good size. The breakfast was very good, a choice of full English, fresh fuit, cereals, yogurts. The owners very helpfull. I wouldn,t hesitate to return back here.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back.

. I would not recommed to stay here is you want a service. Breakfast takes half an hour to arrived there is one person cooking the breakfast so the quality of food is poor. All the rooms are squshed into one room for breakfast no one has their own space to eat or move. There is never anyone around in the place if you need. To top the trip off with terrible service, we travelled up from London on our bikes, we were told bike storage would not be a problem. We we told just to contact the owner when were back to put our bikes away he was never there even when we told him what time we would be back. He told us to put our bikes by the back door and he would put them away an hour later they had not been put away he had gone out for his night out and left them at the back of the house un locked, we had to ring numerous numbers to finally get them locked away that was a fun Saturday night for us. This was not only us who had this proplem another guest had their car parked in the car park the owner had the key so he could move their car if other guests want to get their cars out but when he wanted to leave there was now sign of anyone to get his car out. Overall this place lacks space and service the location is lovely next time I will stay somewhere else.
