We decided on a last minute trip to the Lakes and found Lake House after trying one or two other hotels which were full (it was Easter weekend so that's understandable). Lake House has rooms especially for dogs and their owners and they are separate form the main hotel. Very, very clean and nicely furnished and the shower had TWO shower heads, one back and one front! A large picture window gave us a great view towards the snow covered mountains. Tables and chairs are provided outside the room for drinks in the evening or coffee/tea in the morning. The staff are welcoming and they provide a food bowl and plastic mat for dog food and water. Breakfast was really good too.

We stayed in the Hideaway cottages for 2 nights and loved the warm and well equipped rooms and spacious bathrooms. The location is great.
Staff were wonderful and breakfast was great. we also eat at the Regent Hotel with the 10% discount on our evening meal and the food was really good quality and again the staff were friendly and highly professional. Thank you for a wonderful short stay.

Room Tip: The hideway rooms are spacious and very comfortable

Only stayed 2 nights but would have definately stayed longer were it not for work commitments. Very nice and comfortable place to stay with pleasant staff, and excellent Breakfast. We stayed in the hideaway rooms which are spacious and well equipped. Will hopefully return later in the year for a longer stay.

My wife and i have just returned from a 3 night stay at Lake House. We stayed in room 5 which was a large spacious room with great views of the lake. The hotel was about a 15 minute walk away from the center of Ambleside. Breakfast was superb with a large selection on offer, eggs cooked to your choice and a buffet style English breakfast. All staff we came across were friendly and helpful. If we return to Ambleside in the future we wouldn't look to stay anywhere else other than Lake House.

Just spent a two night break at the Lake House and must say it exceeded expectations. We got a good last minute deal and upgraded to a superior room.It (no3) turned out to be a good choice with splendid uninterrupted views of the lake through a very large window, the bed was exceptionally comfy and the en suite shower room was small but beautifully appointed and very modern making best use of the space so you dont feel at all cramped. The only very slight niggle was that there was plenty of wardrobe space but no drawer storage.
Breakfast was from 8 til 10 with eggs cooked to your preference and a large buffet selection of everything you could want from full english to fruit and yoghurt and the staff were very pleasant.
The hotel with its own parking area is well situated across road from the ferry at Waterhead bay and about a fifteen minute stroll from the centre of Ambleside .I can recommend a lovely little restaurant in Ambleside called the Atelier for fine dining at reasonable prices. There are also two or three hotels and a pub at Waterhead bay which are very nice but for cheaper eating Ambleside has plenty of choice to suit every budget.

Room Tip: Can only comment on room 3 so take a superior room with a front view if you can as we couldnt fault...

My wife and I stayed at Lake house for two nights in one of the hideaway rooms(#20) The hotel is well situated close to Waterhead pier, Borrans Park and the roman fort all close by and only about a 10 mins walk from the centre of Ambleside.
Check in was straightforward and we were shown to our room, one of the hideaway rooms separate from the main hotel each with it's own access.
Room 20 was situated up a flight of attractive slate steps and had a small patio area with table and chairs outside the entrance.
The room was a good size, very clean and well decorated, with a comfortable kingsize bed, well stocked hospitality tray and TV with DVD player.
The bathroom although not large was well fitted with a lovely deep bath with overhead shower, and complementary toiletries.
The room had some very thoughtful touches, such as a boot tray just inside the door for dirty hiking boots etc and an umbrella.
Breakfast was in the main hotel or delivered to your room (for an extra charge)
The breakfast was buffet style and had a good choice of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, etc plus full English (again self service buffet style).
All the staff were very helpful and the service we received was first class all through our stay
Free WIFI was available in the public areas and in the hideway rooms, although in the room it worked fine on the phones but not the laptop.
All in all a great place to stay with friendly and helpful staff, relaxing atmosphere, great room and breakfast.

Room Tip: The Hideaway rooms are a great idea, all the benefits of staying at a great hotel with the extra pri...

Hopefully we will beable to welcome you back when you visit Ambleside.

This was my first time staying in the Lake District and the Lake House was a very well kept b&b/guest house. It's fairly large - I think about 12 rooms and also about 4 rooms detached from the main buildings. Our room had a fantastic view of the lake and mountains - it was a four poster bedroom (room 10) - very well done out and comfortable.

One of our party had one of the rooms detached which had a sofa and heated flooring in the bathroom.

Facilities are modern.

Breakfast is buffet style - full english or continental - but eggs are to order (however you like them) and so is toast and tea. The sausages were especially nice - lincolnshire and very thick and meaty.

Would have liked to have stayed longer to enjoy the room but we were out and about in Ambleside so didn't get chance. Cost was £190 for two nights inclusive of breakfast. I think this is about average for Lake District so although i would have liked it to have been a bit cheaper to feel that I was getting better value - the price is probably comparable with other places and this place was nicely done.
