“Ambling by the lake”
Reviewed March 28, 2018 for a stay in March 2018

We had a wonderful weekend in this very picturesque cozy cottage. Top notch logburner and well equipped kitchen. The instructions were clear enough to follow, even at midnight in the dark!
The one niggle was that we didn't realise the downstairs rooms were so different to the top floor ones... felt very much like a short straw.
However, overall a very comfortable and enjoyable stay!

Thank you for your review and pleased you enjoyed your stay. The barn bedrooms don’t have views but are furnished similar to the upstairs ones, photos on the website. Hope to hear from you again

Our family had a lovely week over the festive period in the cosy cottage. The Lounge has a beautiful fire that creates a nice atmosphere. The 3 larger bedrooms are a great size with lots of storage and two have lovey views. The dining room is quaint and cosy directly off the kitchen. It’s great to
Have a hall space to keep boots and coats. The terraced garden must be a bonus in the summer months.
The lane is quiet and peaceful and there are great walks from the cottage including into Ambleside.

“Best family cottage by far”
Reviewed November 22, 2017 for a stay in November 2017

We have rented this cottage for the past 3 years and will hopefully continue to do so. This home from home is the perfect location for all our family needs, 10minutes walk to the shops, just at the base of Wansfell and a great base to drive to windermere or Grasmere. Great hosts and comfy beds. You could not find a cosier cottage in ambleside!

We were a group of 8 and there was plenty of space. The cottage was great.plenty of utensils, pots, crockery etc.We ate in twice and used dishwasher for setting of 8 with still more cups etc left.10 mins to village. We got taxi back as quite a steep climb for 85 year old.Perfect base for lakes, most within 10-20 drive or walk to windemere....plenty of bathrooms for us all.baby had high hair. The only problem we had was we had a13 year old in the twin room upstairs and the quilt was rather small...overall a fantastic place to stay to explore Lake District.

SO pleased you had such a great time. The quilts on single beds are all standard singles, with king size on the other 3 beds. Local taxi service seems to get quite a lot of business from the cottage in the evenings after hard day's walking. Around £4.50 I believe.

Hope to have you stay again

“Lovely cottage in a lovely location”
Reviewed June 22, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We stayed here in June for a family celebration. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed a garden BBQ. The cottage itself is set in a lovely location, easy walk down to Ambleside town but quiet a steep walk back up, but that's what taxis are for!
There was everything you could want in the cottage. All the bedrooms are beautifully furnished, bathrooms are spacious and well equipped. Wifi is sometimes a bit hit and miss, but there were several children (and adults) using it, and we were in the country.
The lovely mature garden is steeply terraced but the views from the balcony at the top are fabulous.
Car parking for 3 cars, but we took four and managed to park one a little further down the lane.
Thank you for a great weekend break

“Excellent place to stay in Ambleside”
Reviewed August 29, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Excellent secluded location with view of Langdales from upstairs rooms and top of garden. Great walk down the hill into the village.

Only downsides are awkward parking (needs confident manoeuvering skills with large vehicles), intermittent Internet access and only one good shower (although that one is very good indeed).

Glad you enjoyed your stay and the location . Points of info. Wif is BT and seems to usually be fine. One shower is a power shower from hot water tank. One is electric from mains and the third is from a separate tank. This ensures guests need never run out of hot water. Once you get the hang of parking all is well - sorry you struggled.

“What a great place in so many ways”
Reviewed August 7, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Our ages ranged from 7 to 68 and we all loved it. Very comfortable and well equipped with lots of spaces to sit by yourself or two or three groups reading or playing board games. The garden was amazing and walking up to the top patio to take in the views was a highlight at any time of the day. The walk down to, and back up the hill,to Ambleside was great fun with all enjoying the walk and absence of car. Thank you and we would unreservedly recommend Seathwaite Cottage to anyone.
