Good atmosphere, great service, and nice food!
The menu was very varied, a good mix of different
dishes, and good prices.
Seats could do with more cushions though!

Thank Tracy-Michael

We called into the Cuckoo Brow for a drink at lunchtime and decided to go back later than evening for supper. It was a particularly cold and wet day so to sit before a log fire with a pint of the local ale was a nice way to spend some time. On the evening we ate in the bar, there was quite a good choice to suit all tastes and prices were reasonable. I had fish and chips and it was very nice, a good sized piece of fish and not greasy, other members of our group had the venison burger, which again was very nice. Would we go back - yes.

We visit Hawkshead often and have become disappointed with pubs in the village, which have rested on their laurels and made little effort to imrove over the years.
So we decided to give the Cuckoo Brow a go following its recent refurb. The pub has been sympathetically spruced up and has the feel of a small country hotel - very cosy. The menu is excellent with a refreshing variety of starters and mains, including none pub staples such as creamed kidneys and rabbit. The hosts were warm and friendley and its well worth the effort of going the extra mile (or 2) to get the quality and service, which is sadly lacking from many lake district establishments.

well worth a trip to taste the Rabbit stew, home made soup, and the sticky toffee pudding mmmmm. They welcome all from muddy boots to tired dogs and the food and ale will set you up to continue your journey , or even just stay by the fire and relax.
