Have visited Ambleside many, many times, but this was our first stay at The Wynford - I doubt it will be our last! Paul and Sharon were there on our arrival to welcome us, and settle us in with a much appreciated cuppa, which we were able to enjoy outside in the late afternoon sunshine. We were made to feel welcome from the off, and were very happy with our room, the breakfasts, etc, etc....Its a bit of a walk back up the lane after an evening wining and dining in Ambleside, but worth the effort.

We arrived and were made very welcome by Sharon who showed us to our room - The room had everything we needed for a 3 night stay whilst seeing a few sights and doing some walking in the area. With only 3 rooms it's a nice friendly atmosphere and both Paul and Sharon dealt with us most pleasantly. I'd stay there again. Vegetarian breakfast was catered for without fuss and although the road was tricky to drive up and down (very narrow) it is nice to be able to leave the car there whilst walking the ten minutes into Ambleside.

Room Tip: We had room number 2 and I think room number 1 had a bigger bed, but that's about all I can say.

My husband and I had one night at Wynford to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were greeted by Sharon on arrival, who gave us a lovely warm welcome, she made us a cup of tea that we had sitting on the beautiful decking area where we could enjoy the fabulous view. Our room was on the ground floor and was nicely decorated and very clean and comfortable with a lovely ensuite bathroom. We had a wonderful nights sleep and woke up to a gorgeous breakfast that kept us going for the rest of the day. Paul and Sharon are lovely, helpful and friendly people who make you very welcome in their beautiful home. We got to see all the rooms and they are all lovely. Thank you Sharon and Paul for a lovely relaxing stay, we will definately be back.

We stayed here for two nights over the weekend of 17 February. Wynford is located just a ten minute walk from the centre of Ambleside up a quiet narrow lane at the bottom of which you HAVE to turn left and enjoy a pint of local ale in the Golden Rule.
There is parking available at the front. Sharon even let us leave our car there after we'd checked out while we went on a four hour walk. Our room was very comfortable and had special touches such as tea/coffee/hot chocolate/bottled water and chocolate biscuit bars! The best touch was the Radox bubble bath - greatly appreciated after a day spent on the mountains! There is a computer/free Wi-Fi which was great for checking on the weather conditions on the mountains

The breakfast room had a beautiful view over the fells and the bonus of a busy bird table in the garden; we were delighted to see a woodpecker and a nuthatch which we were able to identify using the bird watching book found amongst the various other walking books and maps. The full English breakfast was good with plenty of choice and extra tea, coffee and toast offered.

Sharon and Paul were great hosts and took the time to always have a chat and we would definitely be happy to return here for another stay in the future.

We have just enjoyed a most pleasant weekend stay here and would love to come again. Wynford is located just a few minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside up a quiet narrow lane and there is parking available at the front. Our room was on the ground floor and was attractively decorated and comfortable. Both the bedroom and en-suite bathroom (with a bath) were very clean and well supplied with toiletries and tea/coffee/hot chocolate/bottled water.
The breakfast room had a beautiful view over the fells and the bonus of a busy bird table in the garden; we were delighted to see a woodpecker and a nuthatch. The full English breakfast was good with plenty of choice and extra tea, coffee and toast offered.
There was a utility room for walking clothes although we didn't make use of this, and quite a number of other thoughtful extras were available, such as torches for walking down the lane after dark and parking discs for a free hour's parking in Ambleside.
Sharon and Paul were very friendly and considerate and we would be happy to return here for another stay in the future.

Stayed 3 nights over New Year. Room was small but had everthing we needed, Bathroom was beautifully clean. Breakfast was excellent and had good choices. View from breakfast room window was outstanding, looking over the fells. Plenty of room to park which is good in Ambleside. Paul and Sharon were charming hosts and made us feel very welcome. It is an excellent place for couples who like to be just out of the centre of Ambleside but close enough to wander in (takes 5-10 mins). Lovely and quiet at night as no passing traffic. Could not reccommend Wynford enough to people looking to stay there. Hope to be back to Ambleside for next New Year.

We stayed here Friday/Sat night. Sharon recommended restaurants and we booked for Frid/Sat nights. So glad we did as Ambleside is just so popular. Left work Friday stressed and worn out and from the minute we arrived at tranquil Wynford my body relaxed. The room was lovely and both Sharon and Paul made us feel welcome., We quickly bathed and took the gorgeous walk down the lane into town. We had aperitifs in the Golden Rule in front of a roaring fire then a superb meal at Matthews Bistro.Breakfast was so delicious, sauasage and black pudding very high quality. Watching a woodpecker on the bird table was great. Walked all day Saturday over Lough Rigg to Grasmere and back - love lunch at Tweedies Bar in Grasmere and beer tasting very good. Would definitely saty here again but off to live in NZ again in Jan so will not be back for a while.
