“A bargain gem!”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The rooms are modern, stylish and comfortable. Although slightly on the small size, they had everything you need and at the price, is a bargain for the lakes (please don't put prices up because of this comment). With tea and filter coffee in the rooms and fresh milk on tap in the fridge by reception, this beat any other b&b we have stayed at.
The rooms are in a perfect location for anyone wanting to enjoy Ambleside and the beautiful surroundings. Staff were friendly and helpful - we couldn't fault here and will definitely be going back :-)

I've never felt the need to write a review on tripadvisor but after staying at rooms @ apple pie, i felt inclined to leave a review, we paid just £49 for a double room on the first floor, it was tastefully decorated and well equipped, the bed was very comfy too! We'll definitely come back.

There's something about staying in a place that's linked to a bakery that can't help be warm and cosy! The hotel are in a perfect location, with restaurants, cinema, and shops all within walking distance. Also many walks start straight from Ambleside. Only down sides to this place is the lack of parking (first come, first served) and the rooms are a little small, especially upstairs.

Thankyou for taking the time to write a review and for all you positive comments. You rightly identify that we are occasionally struugling for parking space but we believe we buck the trend in Ambleside as we do have parking right outside allbeit unfortunately not for everyone if we are full. You are also correct that some of our upstairs rooms are bijou. We think that good things can come in small packages and we have tried to give the ultimate within a restricted space.

A lovely cosy place to stay bang in the middle of Ambleside and a great bargain (I got a room for £45 last minute) as long as you can find it as well as hopefully bagging a car parking space outside. There's no public areas but a nice cafe next door and the staff are lovely and more than helpful.

Rooms are compact and bijou but have everything you could ask for top of my list for a return to this area.

Thank you so much for your review. We think you hit the nail on the head we had restrictions in wat we could do with some of our rooms but we maximised the space and think we managed to make each room comfortable with a few little extras which make the difference.

In the heart of Ambleside, yards from the famous Bridge House, is this wonderful boutique hotel. The rooms are cosy and elegant and very good value for money. Parking is minimal and there are no 'public areas' but this is a very pleasant place to stay. We shall definitely be going back!

Excellent location and friendly staff are the best bits of the Apple Pie, the rooms are bijou but this is a converted Lakeland property in the centre of Ambleside and so perfect for a long weekend. The Cafe breakfasts are hearty and there are enough decent places to eat in Ambleside or within 20 minutes drive. Drying room too.

I was taken here for 2 nights on a surprise trip by my partner for my birthday, which I was very excited about as I've heard great things about the lakes and had never been. We were greeted by lovely staff who gave us our room keys and pointed out that there was milk and biscuits in the main hall fridge if we needed to top up, which was a nice touch. Our room was beautifully decorated, even if it was on the small size it was perfect for a romantic getaway. There was no view from our room but all the facilities were at a high standard. The hotel is in a perfect location, and in the centre of all the beautiful cafes and shops, and very near to the routes to go walking. It's a beautiful, peaceful hotel and perfect for couples who want a relaxing getaway to the lakes. Would definitely stay here again.
