“Excellent all-round!”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

My girlfriend and I stayed at this inn, right next to Lake Windermere, at Bowness-on-Windermere for one night. We wanted to stay another night, but they were fully booked.
The location is perfect for sightseeing around Ambleside, Windermere, restaurants and lake excursions.
The room was very comfortable, fresh and clean, with a great view of the lake.
We ate in the restaurant downstairs for dinner, and the food was above and beyond what you might expect of a B&B place!
Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful at all times. The receptionist is a lovely young lady who is a pleasure to deal with.
Our only 'gripe' was that the bathtub took forever to fill up and was not very deep, but that's nothing compared to the rest of the Inn, service and staff.
Breakfast buffet was first class and we could walk in the gardens directly from the restaurant, before moving on to the rest of our day.

Definitely going back to stay there again, and we recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable place to rest with a magnificent homely feel!

Room Tip: Rooms on the East get sun light from sunrise. Car park is around the back and accommodating for larg...

Stayed here for a few days in a room overlooking the lake. Our room and en-suite was extremely clean and as we had not been to the Lake District before, we were grateful for the books, magazines and suggested walks in the room. Every staff member was happy, welcoming and polite. The food served was delicious. Well worth the money spent, and would stay here again without a second thought.

I stayed here for one night 26/6/13. I loved my single room. It was at the back but Lake Windermere could be seen at an angle through the window. The room had good facilities and the modern bathroom was immaculately clean. The staff were all really lovely and welcoming. I had the delicious full English breakfast but there were plenty other things to choose from to eat at breakfast time and the view from my table was amazing. I had drinks in the pub downstairs in the evening in what must be well up there amongst the best beer gardens in the country, if not the world and it was reasonably priced and the atmosphere was great. I usually stay at Ambleside YHA but I will be back here next time..I have been well and truly spoiled!!

I booked a one night two day break at this hotel as we were suffering from burn out but didn't have much time to spare to recharge our batteries. The hotel looked so peaceful on the photos.
Our room was absolutely immaculate the busy road behind didnt cause us any problems as it had been designed with the bathroom on the back so it protected against any noise. We had a balcony with a beautiful lake view.
The food was excellent we had lunch there which was very reasonably priced and of excellent quality. The breakfast in the restaurant with a view of Lake was possibly the best we have ever had. We spent an extra half hour at the Inn once we had checked out sitting in the garden on a swing looking at the Lake batteries fully recharged.
The staff were friendly and welcoming and we will be returning at the next opportunity

Room Tip: If you choose a garden room go for the ones with a balcony as they have a great view of the lake.

The first thing to note is that this is an Inn with accommodation rather than a hotel with a bar. Having said that our room was very nice, spacious well decorated with plenty of storage units for clothes. We had two glass patio doors leading onto our own patio garden which had 2 chairs and a table, a lovely place to sit out in the sun while waiting for someone. When we booked in my wife commented on our room being next to the busy road as she was concerned about noise from the traffic. I can honestly say we didn’t hear any and my wife’s fear about being woken early were totally unwarranted. The breakfast was good the hot food selection was what you would expect with a selection of cereals and fresh fruit, the food was topped up constantly and the service was excellent. In fact all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would I stay here again most definitely.
Just one last note when we arrived we sat out for an hour with a cool drink on a swing seat in the beer garden looking at possibly one of the best views of lake Windermere, great start to a lovely weekend.
