For our visit of the Lake District, we decided that Ambleside was the best location and, after reading the many reviews of the Riverside, decided this just HAD to be the best place to stay! We were definitely right about that! We stayed for 3 nights and found it to be a phenomenal B&B for many reasons. Dave and Brenda are superb hosts and make you feel at home immediately upon check-in. Dave can advise on all areas to visit and has a gold mine of information from which to check out restaurants, excursions, hikes etc. As noted by others, the breakfasts are exquisite - and completely a la carte. In addition, Dave supplies each table with a daily printout of the latest news as well as weather forecast. The rooms are superbly decorated, immaculately clean, and the bathroom very updated. The Riverside is located just off the main highway through Ambleside on a lovely country road along side a nice babbling brook. Once you experience the busy traffic in Ambleside, you'll know why everyone loves the location of the Riverside so much. As has been mentioned by others, it is a very lovely and easy 10 to 15-minute walk from the Riverside along the country road into the town of Ambleside. Without question, this is easily the best place to stay in Ambleside for so many reasons! The Byrnes - Florida
