“Another perfect weekend”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

We have just returned today from our 11th annual perfect weekend with friends, the warm welcome from Dave ,Brenda and the log fire was a great start to a cold and frosty weekend. Our stay has always been faultless, and breakfasts are amazing. One of the best ways to describe the Riverside is we feel like we are coming home.

We found this to be super accommodation, with hospitable hosts, very clean rooms.the location was very quiet & was within easy walking distance of Ambleside, across the park.the guest lounge was very comfortable with log burning stove.

This was our first visit to the Riverside. My wife and I were looking for a nice setting for a relaxing break before Christmas and booked the Riverside based on previous reviews. We are so glad we chose to stay here! The B&B is run be Dave and Brenda and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, they were perfect hosts. Despite this being our first visit, we were welcomed as old friends and were made to feel welcome thoughout - Nothing was too much trouble. It is obvious they genuinely love what they do and they throughly deserve all of their excellent feedback and multitude of awards. Our room (number 2) was equipped with a four poster bed and spa bath, with a lovely view of the flowing river below. With Ableside town centre just a short country walk away (around 10 minutes), we found plenty of nice places to eat in the evenings. Beakfast was home cooked to order and comprised of local produce. We loved the nice touch of a different variety of homemade bread each morning. The Riverside is ideally situated to enjoy all that Lakes have to offer. The whole experience was perfect and we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Riverside. We will definitely return!

We had two nights at the Riverside and can only agree with all the others who have commented positively on their stays there. The welcome is friendly and genuine, the place a real home-from-home, where everything you might need has been thought of. We were particularly grateful for the use of umbrellas and torches for the stroll into town in the evenings! There really is nothing to find fault with here (except perhaps that I ate far too much at breakfast as there was so much to enjoy!)

My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights at Dave and Brenda's B&B in mid October and were only sad we weren't staying longer. Even the torrential rain didn't dampen our weekend and we were very well looked after. The B&B itself is in a lovely peaceful location away from the town but close enough to walk in for dinner in the evening (with the help of one of their handy torches).
Dave and Brenda were so welcoming and friendly and they throughly deserve their awards and number 1 position! I would definitely recommend the Riverside to anyone considering a trip to the Lake District. You can be sure of a relaxing break, wonderful service and a delicious breakfast with local produce and homemade breads.
To top everything off, my boyfriend proposed to me so I'm sure we'll be back to stay for our anniversary!

We had another lovely short break with Brenda and Dave at Riverside. It rained quite a bit but the autumn colours were glorious. Once again we were looked after and fed very well and we had one of our favourite rooms, No. 4; although we can understand why someone who is not 5'2" like one of us would have difficulty using the shower in no. 4, the headroom is limited - however, there is a really nice bath which suits the other 6ft member of our party better! We ate twice at Zefferelli's and took advantage of the 2 course meal + cinema ticket for £18 odd, which was good value. We are not vegetarians but the meals at Zefferelli's (and Fellini's) are excellent. Again, can't praise Riverside, Under Loughrigg highly enough; we try to get there twice a year if we can and are always assured of a good welcome.

Room Tip: We have stayed in every room except the family room (just 2 of us) and they are all good but a parti...

3rd visit. Loads of tea, loads of hot water, amazing breakfasts, wonderful hosts. Booked again but to show you how you need to plan ahead the room we usually have was already booked for May next year.

Brenda and Dave deserve so much praise for treating every guest to the same warm welcome and service.
