This was not our first visit. Once you have experienced Brenda and Dave's hospitality and attention to detail it is difficult to match elsewhere. The setting is superb, so close to the centre of Ambleside and yet so peaceful. The rooms are superb, cosy and yet first class. Dave and Brenda are very helpful and informative about the local walks and amenities. The breakfast is wonderful! All local produce and home made bread! I cannot praise this hotel enough. Suffice to say we have now stayed there 4 times! Another big plus is that you can walk from Riverside so once you have parked you can have a car free holiday - very environmentally friendly!

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent but our personal favourite is the side view of the fell. Peaceful and tranq...

As soon as you walk through the front door you are greeted with an easy smile of welcome and once first names are exchanged they are never forgotten. Everything is shown/explained ie Room, Facilities and any information regarding restaurants and different activities in the area are all there for you to see in prepared folders. The room was well equipped, the bed so comfy and as for the breakfast it was just delicious. Have already told friends how good this place is and I look forward to staying again soon.

We were recommended to visit Ambleside and stay at Riverside by friends and we were not disappointed.

The property is lovely, very homely and cosy, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the location is idyllic.

The breakfasts are to die for! I loved sampling the different bread that David and Brenda made every day! All the food is locally sourced and excellent quality.

David and Brenda make you feel so at home, and give great advise with regards to local walks and amenities.

On a final note, owning a cleaning business in Hampshire, UK I am so pleased to say that the rooms and bathrooms at Riverside were of a very high standard. Faultless.

If you visit Ambleside you must stay here- it definitely deserves 5 *s

Room Tip: We stayed in the family room which had a double and a spare single. But we would love to try the fou...

We have recently returned from a 3 night stay at Riverside. The owners are delightful, perfect hosts. The rooms were just what we wanted. We stayed in Room 3 which was spacious and comfortable. Breakfasts cooked to perfection. The location is perfect, with an easy walk into Ambleside which has many lovely restaurants. I will definitely stay there again when we return to the Lake District.

As has been said on countless reviews, Brenda and Dave are the perfect hosts. We booked three nights for a special birthday celebration and staying at the Riverside was wonderful. We had room 2 (The four poster) at the front of the property overlooking the river. An immaculate large room with a spar bath, armchairs, TV and kettle with a variety of teas, coffee and biscuits. A nice touch was the bath robes and lovely smelling (locally made) earth friendly shower gels, soap and shampoo which they also provided.
Breakfast was a gourmet delight with plenty of choice, including a perfectly cooked full English. The delicious preserves and bread were home made or locally sourced, (Dave serves his own home-made bread which was scrumptious).
Ambleside is a great location, and what Brenda and Dave don't know about things to do and where to go is probably not worth knowing about. I can't recommend this place highly enough, and the river rushing by provided the perfect sound track to relax to. This probably sums up our whole stay. Perfectly relaxing!

Another trip to Riverside and another excellent report . Brenda and Dave make us so welcome and have now become our dear friends. This is the most restful, special place and we always look forward to our visit. If you want a well located hotel, spotless rooms and a scrumptious breakfast then look no further. On this visit our son travelled with us and he too is now hooked.
