“Excellent Holiday”
Reviewed March 6, 2017 for a stay in January 2017

Excellent holiday. Lovely accommodation, cosy and comfortable in winter, with lovely garden for barbecues and relaxing outdoors when warmer.

Easy access along single track road. Beautiful views but easy 30 minute walk down to Ambleside. The uphill walk back may take a little longer though!

Beautiful walks available from the front door. Cottages are on the road leading to the main path to Wansfell, and in the opposite direction you can walk to the famous Kirkstone Pass Inn.

The advantages of getting away from it all, but with all the facilities of a small town nearby.

Highly Recommended.

“Perfect Peak retreat”

Little Grove was the perfect base for exploring the peaks. The location is nicely remote, but close enough (10 min drive or 30 min walk) to Ambleside for shopping etc. It is also just next to Wandsfell Pike, which is a good climb, and some pretty amazing waterfalls. The cottage is small, but suited my wife and I perfectly. It is also nice and warm, especially with the log fire, which was very welcome in chilly November!

“Wonderful break with amazing views!”

We spent a wonderful week here and were really blessed with perfect weather, especially for the lakes! The cottages sit right at the very end of a narrow lane, it feels like you've gone too far but you can't, it's the last thing you reach. It is a 10 minute drive to Ambleside, I didn't try and walk it but I imagine it's a fair trek up the hill back from the village. You are given parking discs for up to 1 hour in the village though if you need it, and lots of long stay parking for longer. There's plenty to do in Ambleside and Waterhead if the weather is good and lots of other places and villages to visit within a 15-20 minute drive. I could have stayed another week and not ran out of things to do. Grove Cottages is a wonderful place to return to, amazing views and lovely garden furniture from the sun terrace at the back or out front in the evening with a coffee! It feels like you're miles aware from everything. Really can't recommend the place enough and definitely would like to come back and maybe stay in a bigger cottage with some family. Highly recommend Kirkstone Pass Inn for a drink, some food and the views on a clear day, and a ghost story or two...

“Beautiful peaceful location away from hustle and bustle”

Grove farm accommodation is in a lovely location just out of Ambleside. Despite an excellent map we found it a bit hard to find because of misleading signs. However the journey up to the property is stunning and once there the views are ever changing. Plenty of walks straight from the property better if you get nice weather.
Little Grove was very comfortable and the heating was especially welcome in a wet July.
Enjoyed seeing the animals coming down near the garden especially two deer one day.

“Fantastic cottage with amazing views. Highly recommended.”

What a great find this little cottage was on Trip Adviser. Accommodates two people very comfortably.

The views from both the front and rear of the property are exceptional. Upon our arrival we found a vase of fresh flowers, a newspaper, a plate of biscuits, tea and coffee and milk in the fridge... lovely, personal touches. There is everything you need for a comfortable weeks stay. The log burner kept my husband amused and also heated the cottage a treat. A basketful of logs is kindly provided. WiFi a big bonus for us. The cottage is very clean and tidy. The use of a washing machine is available in the utility room opposite the front door if required.

The cottage is located about a mile or so outside of Ambleside town centre. Just make sure you go right to the very end of the narrow road...ignore the private road sign half way up and go straight on.....as far as you can go.

Will definitely return as it is such a great base for all the Lakes.

“The cosiest cottage you will every stay in”

We spent a week in cold, snowy January at Little Grove - it is one of 5 cottages at a converted barn a mile or so out of Ambleside overlooking the peaks. It is an incredibly compact, cosy, comfortable property, excellently equipped, good (quiet!) central heating and a wood burning stove. At night it is pitch dark, and completely silent. Really, really, lovely place. We walked every day straight from the cottage and didn't use the car the whole week. The manager, Sarah, could not have been more helpful. Ambleside has everything you need - the cinema, Zefferelli's & Fellini's, is a multi-site cinema/vegetarian restaurant, we had a lovely evening there and walked back afterwards through the snow.
