“Must Try”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

The meal was good value and lots of it, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We went for the special had homemade soup which was very hot and tasty with some lovely fresh bread and the lamb chop with came with lots of veg, really good portions all cooked very nicely. It was a shame the special was the same all week. This is not a posh place but we would recommend it. We ate early after a hard days walking, this place had a steady stream of people, lots trying the special.

“Amble through a lovely meal.”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

Had a really good meal here at the Ambles Brasserie. There was a decent menu to choose from plus a special of the day.Nice selection of starters and sweets. Three of us did have the special which was double lamb chops in a red wine sauce with seasonal vegatables and our fourth diner had the grilled salmon.
The food was very good indeed and would happilly dine there again. Staff were friendly helpful and attentive. Drinks and wine menu covered most needs and at reasonable prices.
Service was very efficient and even speedy you might say as compared with some restaurants.
All in all well worth a visit we will again. Thank You..

Excellent food and good value for money. Have been there a few times now when I camp beside Windermere, it is nice to know a good local restaurant selling good local foods

“disappointed.”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

After a day travelling, the menu looked appealing. Starter was houmous which was accompanied with dry toast-poor. Steak for mains- good size, poorly seasoned and peppercorn sauce option was bland. An excellent side of fresh veg and potatoes. Desert was dry. Staff were excellent and friendly. Out of our 8 days in lake district this was the most disappointing meal.
