A beautiful cottage that had all of the creature comforts that you would have in your own home. Accommodation was extremely clean, tidy & very well maintained throughout. Everything was readily available for those who wanted a totally self-catering holiday. For those who don't, the cottage is very well situated. The local pub (The Tower Bank Arms) was very conveniently situated 10 minutes away on foot and is an establishment that I would recommend for its hospitality, food & drink. The popular village of Hawkshead is also just a short distance away and typifies the Lakeland communities. It also happens to be my favorite Lakeland village.
All in all, the week we spent at Lowfold was truly special ...... not only for the comfort of the cottage but for the surrounding views across to the lake and the peace & tranquility of the location.

We spent a lovely week at Lowfold with the added bonus of good weather which we were able to enjoy from the deck.
The views from the cottage are second to none and can be enjoyed from three of the bedrooms and lounge. All the beds are comfy and bedding lovely.
There are lots of walks from the front door but the one up to Moss Eccles Tarn is not to be missed, keep walking up past the tarn and you come to one of the best views in the Lake District, The Langdale Pikes.
Very well situated for Coniston and Ambleside.
We didn't eat locally but did go in to book the Tower Bank Arms but left after being ignored by staff having a riveting conversation in the kitchen.
My only niggle was the Hoover, no suction and not suitable for keeping the house pristine.
This is a beautiful well maintained cottage and all our contact with Sarah (the owner) was excellent with swift replies to our queries. A home away from home and we will return.

What a find! This was the perfect property. It was well maintained with all amenities, including a log fire. We even had Sky TV in every bedroom!
The views from the property were gorgeous, looking out to the grazing sheep & cattle, and further onto Esthwaite Water with views of the mountains in the distance. We also had a view on Old Man Coniston.
There was a super decking area outside with table & chairs to sit and admire the scenery, especially on a lovely sunny day.
The location of this property was excellent with Ambleside, Bowness & Windermere all within a short drive. We were able to find some lovely walks from the property so there was no need to take the car out every day, although the walks around Buttermere & Grasmere/Rydal lakes were brilliant. We also drove the main passes, Hardknott, Kirkstone & Honister, which were certainly worth a visit.
We ate at two of the local pubs, Tower Bank Arms & Cuckoo Brow Inn, which we can highly recommend. Both within walking distance, although a torch is advisable, which is provided by the owner,as well as two jugs if you want to bring some ales back home with you! (They think of everything!) :)
I also need to say that there was excellent communication between Sarah, (the owner of the property), and me. Sarah was very prompt with her replies and information about the property and there was always a number to call while we were at the property if we had any concerns, which I'm glad to say we didn't need to do.
We will certainly be visiting this property again!

We stayed at the house with 6 adults and two children for a week. When we arrived we had a good nose around and our welcome gifts included a bottle of wine and some much needed milk for a brew! They provide a couple of jugs which you can take to the local pub up the road to fill with your favourite real ale which we found to be a really nice touch (and we used!).
The house was light, spacious and well presented throughout. The bedrooms are generous in size and have plenty of storage. Sky tv is also available in all the bedrooms. We stayed in. He bedroom with the balcony which also has a couple of chairs to sit and watch the view. The beds were all comfortable and the bedding was cosy.
The kitchen was well stocked with pans, utensils and equipment. I brought a few items from home but didn't need them in the end. The only downside I would say would be storage, there were only two cupboards which we could fill with our shopping and with 8 people staying, this was a bit of a squeeze but we made do. There is a large fridge freezer with plenty of room.
We had a couple of minor issues during our stay but the owner resolved them very quickly with no problems and we always had a point of contact.
The terrace has a good size BBQ which we used a few times and has a large 8 sweater table and sun lounges. The garden is a decent size, we took a badminton set and there was plenty of room. There is also a gate to the field which you can walk across to go to the lake for a swim. I would advise to walk round to the right as there are a lot of weeds as you walk in directly in front of the house. There are some pretty big fish in the lake so don't be surprised if you see them on the surface around you as it is a fishing lake.
You can park two cars at the house and if you need further parking, there is a children's play area 5mins walk up the road with plenty of free parking. I would recommend reversing your vehicles into the driveway of the house as it makes getting out much easier and less stressful on the clutch!
This was our first cottage holiday and we were thoroughly impressed with it and will definitely look to do so again in the future.
