Have been meaning to review our stay for a while...We stayed here for 4 nights over the October/November half term and turned up on the Monday evening to a warm welcome from Dave. He offered to take our bags for us and showed us to the room, we stayed in Room 3. It was spotless, and a perfect size, the bed was also very comfortable, the usual tea/coffee making facilities were there as well, there was even the option for fresh milk if needed. The bathroom was compact, with a powerful shower and a really handy heated mirror so it didn't steam up (what a great idea)! A heated towel rail was a bonus for drying the inevitable soggy shoes after a days walk, there was also a drying room if you wanted to use it. We were also allowed to park the car in a locked parking area that Dave gave us the keys to, as parking isn't the easiest elsewhere.
The morning after our first night we were welcomed by Angie in the breakfast room overlooking Compston Road. She offered us tea/coffee and took our order for a Full English, we tucked into our cereals/fruit/yoghurt while we waited. The cooked breakfast (with black pudding of course) was, quite simply, the best we've had and set us up perfectly for the day ahead. We got chatting to Dave about walks/weather etc..he used to be involved in Mountain Rescue so his advise was invaluable! Dave and Angie also told us about some great places to eat in Ambleside for the evening, Dodd's and Zeffirelli's to name two of them. Overall, our stay was perfect and will definitely be staying at Claremont House again when we're next visiting.
Thanks again Dave and Angie for a fantastic stay, hope to see you again soon.
