Our workshop was in Nov 2013 and the setting and accommodations were excellent. The staff was accessible, friendly, and professional. The rooms were warm, clean, beds comfortable and the bathrooms well maintained and clean.

Just had two nights at nab cottage as a little retreat away from day to day life. Tim and liz and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had all I needed to relax. The energy in the house is amazing and loved room 7 where I stayed. I was the only guest so it was amazingly quiet and peaceful. It is a very real homey place to stay and wouldnt change a thing.

Nab Cottage certainly has character and is good value for the area. It's in a great location for exploring the Lake District and we appreciated being out of the busier towns. We were warmly greeted and loved our room which had a window seat and looked out over Rydal Water. The ensuite bathroom was quite adequate with a good shower. Even though Nab Cottage is on the main road through the Lake District it was quiet inside, especially at night. We enjoyed the character of the building, including the uneven floors. The dining room is especially attractive with its old beams. There was a great selection for breakfast. The hosts are attentive but laid back and relaxed which gives a very pleasant atmosphere.

Room Tip: We had room 4 with a great view over the lake. Didn't see the others.

Nab Cottage and it's delightful owners Tim and Liz are true gems. Our two night stay was comfortable and charming, and the cottage history a rare bonus. It is not often one gets quirkiness and perfection combined, but Tim and Liz manage to pull it off with superb grace. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful and the rooms cosy and comfortable. The cottage is situated right next to the Lake and walks are plentiful and easy. We would recommend this place to anyone travelling to Cumbria for either a long or short stay.

Room Tip: Choose a room with an en-suite bathroom to save sharing a shower with other guests.

We have just returned from a four night stay at Nab Cottage which was truly wonderful. It's location is perfect for walking, we didn't use the car at all during our stay! Tim, Liz and the team were so very welcoming and we were thoroughly spoilt with amazing food and hospitality. The cottage has a real charm and a calming atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of normal life.

It was great to be away from corporate hotels and lifestyle even if only for a short while and this place has lots of personality. The hot water bottles were most welcome, the views breaththtaking and it was great to slow down a bit and enjoy the wonderful sourroundings. We were genuinely sorry to leave and hope to return again sometime soon.

I stayed at Nab for a weekend yoga retreat and had a great weekend. For a low price retreat this place was perfect. The converted barn was made for yoga and the vegetarian food provided was second to none. 3 course meals and amazing puddings! I also used the hot tub which is in the garden which helped to soothe aching muscles

The rooms are a little dated and were very cold, especially at night as the cottage still has original single glazing, but I didn't spend a lot of time in my room. It was clean and tidy and had a quaint feel to it. The shower was very hot and powerful, and I liked the organic toiletries provided. I shared a twin room with a friend, the beds were OK, and there were lots of extra blankets provided to use as well as the duvet

The front room has a lovely open fire, but be warned... The dining room is very cold! It could definitely do with being a bit warmer, I don't think they kept the heating on during the day

I really enjoyed my stay at Nab Cottage. For a yoga retreat it was perfect. But if I wanted a more luxurious break for the weekend I think I would stay elsewhere. Service was good and we were made to feel very welcome

We have just returned from a three night stay at Nab Cottage. We were greeted by Tim and the offer of tea and cake (delicious) in the sitting room, very peaceful with a lovely fire. Although the guest facilities of a sauna and hot tub were mentioned we were never shown them or offered again.
Unfortunately our en-suite shower (room 4) wasn't working so we had to use the communal bathroom for showering throughout. Our room had a lovely view of the lake and despite being next to the road was quiet at night. However, the furniture and furnishings in the room were a little shabby. Some lovely bedding and upgrading of these would go a long way! Also too much furniture in our room, felt a little like someone's spare room.
Liz was a great hostess at breakfast. Homemade bread and marmalade was excellent. A little more attention to detail would have been great - eggs not overcooked, porridge hot etc. The owners allow dogs to stay, however in such a small b&b their presence was a little dominating (and smelly), particularly in the sitting room.
The rooms are small and characterful, however the decor and furnishings are tired and in need of a sympathetic refresh.
Nab Cottage could be an incredible and memorable place to stay, considering its history and position next to the lake. The hosts are a warm and interesting couple with plenty of local knowledge. Come on guys, invest in this place and make it the gem it absolutely is!
