Description: Lucy4 Wine Bar & Bistro is tucked away in the backstreets of Ambleside and is a combination of cockt4ils, wines, continental and local bottled beers, soft drinks, together with a wide range of mix and match style food ... it's not exactly tapas in that the portions are bigger than tapas and a little more interesting in variety. It's a fun and fiendish place 4 everyone ... Ideal 4 Individuals, Perfect 4 Parties, Cosy 4 Couples and Fun 4 Families. Live Acoustic guitar most Sundays from 9pm. Open daily from 5pm and last food orders at 10.30pm. Set on two levels, with entrances at both - outside decking area as well as small, compact bar area. Friendly staff, all in all an interestingly, different dining experience - if you do anything ... do a chocolate fondue - be a Devil and try Lucy4!

We went to Lucy 4s a number of times last year having only recently discovered it while wandering the back streets. Trendy tapas and wine bar is not your usual Ambleside fare, and whilst a bit on the pricey side we always loved going; good food and good atmosphere. However I was a bit disappointed when we went the Saturday before New Year. Nothing specifically wrong, apart from one dish we sent back for further cooking, food just wasn’t as tasty as previous and Sangria was just red wine with piece of fruit; whole thing not really worth the price tag. Very few people eating at the same time, so not much atmosphere either. Maybe this was just a one off, hope so; Ambleside needs more of this sort of place. Will give it another go in the New Year with fingers crossed.

Visited recently and for a local restaurant to continue to serve great quality food and have a quirky way of doing so it is really nice change from city chains and wannabe's.

We had nibbles / steak / pesto pasta / Mexican veg lasagne and tuna skewer

Oh and the cocktails were great too

On the 2 occasions we gave been up to Ambleside for new year, we have eaten at Lucy 4. The food was very good at every meal. Staff were very attentive, even though the restaurant is split on 2 levels. The tapas style food was very enjoyable. The only dish I was not that keen on, was the pigeon that was a bit tough and most likely over cooked

After a big day hiking about and after a night in Zefirellis, we decided to have a wander and follow our noses. Very glad we found this place. It was different, with a good menu and great food. The service was great and friendly, we were browsing the menu outside earlier and bumped into the manager who recommended it highly.
Local bottled beers, quirky decor, relaxed atmosphere, lots of candles, outside area with tables, split level. All good and clean.
I really liked it and can say that a change is good when eating out in Ambleside because there are an awful lot of 'Traditional Pubs' serving 'Traditional Fayre' but theses seem to be tourist traps and low quality.
Go Local and be different. It was highly recommended.
