If you are in the Lake District then you must visit Hayes Garden Centre, especially when they open their Xmas display. It’s always a pleasant place to walk round and the caffe has lots of choice.

Ambleside is very dog friendly.
Cafes, tea rooms, gift and clothes shops, doggies all welcome EXCEPT HAYES GARDEN CENTRE. When I asked if I could take in my dog with my family I was told 'no'. When I asked why I was told 'because you can't'!!! So, outside we waited in the rain, being told again bluntly 'because you can't'. Needless to say we will never go there again even without our lovely Labrador

We visited the cafe during our visit to the Garden Centre. Very busy but we managed to find a table. Good menu choice and we enjoyed our meal of Jacket Potato and salad.

This is an absolutely huge garden centre so easy to get lost but we managed to find the cafe and had quite a good cuppa if a bit on the expensive side
