We paid a second visit to Elder Grove and were not disappointed. I cannot think of anything to suggest that would have improved our stay. The room (number 8) was recently refurbished to a high standard and the bed was very comfortable. I recalled the breakfast from our previous visit and was looking forward to it. I was not disappointed. It was a innovative and tasty vegetarian option which was a welcome change from the token Quorn sausage that some establishments offer. The owners were helpful and friendly. There are many little touches that they have implemented which add up to provide a real sense of being on holiday and well looked after. The location is perfect, especially since there is parking available.

Thanks for taking time to post a review we are glad we did not disappoint, and you were pleased with the new furniture, one of the 6 rooms that has had new furniture this winter. The new dining room chairs arrived today to go with the new oak tables which will be with us after half term and the “Westmorland breakfast” our full vegetarian breakfast is proving very popular even with the meat eaters. We look forward to seeing you again very soon.
Regards
Paul and Vicky

Just got back from weekend away without the kids(only the 2nd time). chose Elder grove and very glad we did. Not a big hotel but has everything you would want i.e bar, lounge, parking. The hosts are lovely, the decor is lovely and very clean and tidy. Started boyh mornings with a fantastic breakfast. Choice is vast and the cumberland sausage is to die for. there was a lovely smell wafting around the lower floors which turned out to be the host<s homemade marmalade and chutneys.
|I don<t want to waffle on too long but in a nutshell I would recommend the Elder grove to anybody and everybody(and I already have).

Room Tip: Wouldn't have thought there would be a problem with any room.

A lovely B&B in the perfect location for exploring Ambleside. Owners and staff were very pleasant and helpful. Great Cumbrian breakfast and good sized rooms. Small bar was a bonus!

Room Tip: Book soon!

A lovely hotel with amazing owners where all the little things are taken care of. Room is furnished to a high standard with real attention to detail - I especially loved the Herdy cups and coasters and Fairtrade teas and coffees etc. Bed extremely comfortable which made for a great nights sleep. Also loved the shower which was extremely powerful and the deep bath filled with lovely hot water very quickly. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful, even carrying our bags to the room and calling what felt like every taxi firm in the area to get us a taxi on the Sunday (word of warning, it would appear that very few taxis operate in Ambleside on a Sunday at this time of year so allow extra time if you are going to the train station). The breakfast was fabulous with great quality, locally sourced ingredients and home made jams and chutneys (try Paul's homemade Lemon Marmalade - amazing!) as well as plenty of toast and fresh coffee. No complaints at all and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and recommend to a friend - thanks for a great experience!

Stunning B&B, good breakfast, amazing location, and a bar!

Stopped there a few times now and love the place. We love the Lakes and we are hard walkers but we like a central location with somewhere nice to eat. This B&B is the ideal location for us.

We will be back!

Very welcoming owners, especially as we hadn't booked! Stayed in the superior room and it definitely didn't disappoint. Fantastic breakfast and right in the centre of Ambleside, will recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area

We have just returned from a lovely 3 night New Year break at Eldergrove accompanied by my son and daughter and their partners. All in all we had a lovely stay and have no complaints whatsoever. We had room 4 which was the special occasions room and would definitely book this room again for future stays. All the extra touches were really appreciated and Vicky and Paul were superb hosts. We will definitely be returning later on in the year. We dined at the Log House on New Years Eve and had a superb evening.
