“Spacious holiday house in amazing location”

The house sits in an amazing location with stunning views over Morecombe Bay, aided by large windows in the lounge, dining room and first floor games room. It's an easy 20 minute walk into Silverdale village where there are pubs, a grocery store and Indian take-away. And just a 10 minute walk down to the Bay itself.

The house has clearly been reburbished in some areas very recently, and the central heating/hot water system in particular was clearly new and worked brilliantly. However, the house could do with a bit more TLC to really live up to its potential.

While some bedrooms are stunning, others are particularly poor, especially the attic bedrooms (off the games room) and the bunk-bed room which is more of a corridor than a bedroom. This might work ok if you've got kids you can chuck in the disappointing bedrooms, but we were a group of adult friends who'd come away for a week to write, so the bedroom discrepancies were an issue.

The furniture throughout looks great from a distance but up close looks more like it's been sourced from second-hand stores; sofas with a huge tear, lounge coffee table with drawers that don't open, dining table with holes in it. Maybe it's a shabby-chic style that just wasn't to our taste?!

In addition, there were lots of little niggles throughout the house. The kitchen is large and spacious with a lovely new induction hob but didn't really have enough suitable pans for a group this large. The second dish-washer didn't take the washing tablet so only rinsed stuff. We couldn't find a screw-bottle-opener for the essential bottles of wine! There are no oven gloves provided, or table mats or coasters. Or if there were, we couldn't find them despite opening every drawer and cupboard in the house!

The dining room is a great size but the chairs, although looking great, are really uncomfortable to sit on for more than half an hour. The piano-room (off the kitchen) is great but the huge window has a broken hinge, meaning when we tried to open it, it literally fell off the hinge and nearly crushed me! Some bathrooms are fantastic but others lack shower curtains and bath mats. The shower-head in the twin en-suite was broken and fixed in an awkward position and because there was no shower curtain the water just poured out onto the bathroom floor. Some bedrooms are spectacular while others lack hangars, bedside tables and bedside lamps.

With a bit more investment and attention to detail, this could be a really stunning holiday cottage.

“We’ve never stayed in a place quite like it”

Three generations of my family ranging from young children to octogenarians stayed at Bay view for a weekend vacation and had a superb time. The high chair and cot were already assembled for us, which was one less thing to think about! The house was extremely well equipped and comfortably furnished which was much appreciated as the weather was not good. Also, the garden was beautiful and had wonderful views over the bay.

We have been taking holidays with our extended family for the last 7 years and we all agreed that this was the best house yet!

“Ideal for our purposes; great stay”
Reviewed August 3, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The property is as advertised and actually has features that aren't done justice by the photos- there are large gardens ideal for games and the views are quite spectacular. We had BBQs and enjoyed the outdoor areas very much, not least the outdoor wood fired hot tub! For cosier evenings the Large sitting room and indoor games room are fantastic.
Three of the bedrooms are stunning and the others are well-apportioned and comfortable with plenty of en suites and bathrooms throughout to meet the needs of a large group like ours.
The place was not perfectly clean but Jules sorted this out for us.
Ideally situated for trips into the south lakes. Would highly recommend!

“Fantastic weekend”

We stayed here as a group of 16 for my partners birthday...we all really enjoyed it as it's something different to do than just your usual weekend away in a city which is what we would usually do.

The house is huge and looks a lot nicer in real life than the photos! The pictures don't do it justice at all. The views are amazing!

The owners were very helpful and available to speak to on the phone when we needed to know where things were when we arrived.

Wifi was available and worked all through the house all weekend.

The gardens are huge so it's brilliant when the weather is nice and a BBQ and outdoor seating is provided which was great. The house is in a remote location so nobody bothers you or complains about noise etc but it's only about a 15 minute walk away from a village which has a supermarket and a few local pubs.

We are a group of 24-30 year olds and all really enjoyed it!

I had the most amazing time in the house it’s a truly beautiful house with amazing views!. We stayed at the property with extended family from all across the world and I don’t we could have found a better place to gather. It does need some TLC in places but we felt that it more than made up for that with all that it had to offer.

The key positives are
1) The property is very spacious .2 large living rooms, large kitchen and dining area

2) Really interesting quirky furniture
3) Very picturesque setting with a large garden and nearby fields
4) Beautiful surrounding area
5) Lots of activities close by
6) Amazing views with great spaces to entertain

7) Plenty of bathrooms and very comfortable

Excellent stay, Had a problem with starting up central heating and within one hour owner had British Gas with us. Deposit was back with us within a week. Seen a few people moan about needing updating, the place is a very old building with old features, want modern try a travel lodge. 11 bedrooms two jaccuzzi baths outdoor woodfired hottub and a games room, what more could you want. A great weekend for six families with children, drinking laughing BBQ and enjoying the outdoors. Place is amazing. Just make sure you tag your kids as the game of hide and seek was a nightmare, hillarious for kids though.
