Endsleigh was a convent and a school, and now operates as a centre which hosts functions and conferences, and a B&B. The building is quite something! It continues to be run by the sisters. As an atheist, I felt very welcome here, and found it to be very quiet and well-equipped. If you are looking for accommodation near the university, this is ideal - less than 10 minutes walk from the main campus and cheap, with plenty of restaurants/pubs/shops/takeaways nearby. Everything else I could find looked a bit rough around the edges or was much more money for a night's stay. The room I stayed in was single en-suite, and was perfectly adequate - for 32.50 I wouldn't expect luxury, just somewhere clean, comfortable and quiet. It's all very basic, but there's nothing wrong with any of it. The free wi-fi and TV in the room were an unexpected bonus, as was the kitchen down the corridor for guests - you can bring your own food and cook it there, if you want to keep costs down. Breakfast was simple but sufficient - you help yourself to cereal, milk, juice or hot drinks, toast, jams and fruit. It's very relaxed, there's no need to worry that it will be stuffy or...well, like sleeping in a convent! I've stayed in B&Bs and paid much more for a similar standard of accommodation but with less peace and quiet! I imagine this wouldn't suit if you were having a big night out in Hull, but for those staying for work and wanting somewhere convenient, comfortable and cheap, I'd recommend it. I'll certainly be staying there again.
