This is a very good budget hotel in Hull. 5 mnutes walk from the train station and rooms are all a good size with comfortable beds and well designed bathrooms. Staff are friendly and efficient and I have never been left waiting at reception as at some other places. It is a short walk to the main shopping areas and very good value for money if you book ahead.

We spent two nights at this hotel and found it be comfortable and satisfactory for our needs (I was there for a football match). We were fortunate to be on the ground floor as the lift was not operating but it was fixed very quickly. The room was pleasant enough and got even better once the spare bed had been had been 'converted ' into a window ledge which added extra shelving and storage space. The bathroom was good and the shower excellent. The staff were very good, friendly,,helpful and efficient particularly Kiely and Karen. We did eat in the hotel as there were other places around. We have no hesitation in recommending the Ibis Hotel, Hull as a good budget hotel for a short stay. Unfortunately my team lost (again!) and we moved on to the Pride Park Travelodge, Derby.

Room Tip: The room was allocated by the reception staff.

Ok it was only £26, but you do expect certain standards with an international chain. The good bits: professional and well mannered person during check in and room was generally fine.

Bad bits:
Only one bath towel
Lack of tea and milk
Dirty stairwell and corridors - are they ever cleaned?
Maids cleaning rooms in the morning just completely ignore you, not a 'good morning' or anything
Lift not working
Dirty entrance
View outside at back of hotel appeared to show laundry (could have been clean or dirty!) piled up in trolleys all night open to the elements and whole area was a general mess

Thanks, but no thanks!

Room Tip: Book another hotel. Premier inn is better value!

Had to go to Hull over a weekend on business, but decided to stay over rather than rush back home. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Shower was brilliant. The bathroom is a little self contained 'pod' inside the room. Eventhough there were a few male parties staying over, it was a peaceful night.

Breakfast was a buffet style with plenty of choice.

Would definitely stay again.

My room was clean and tidy the bed was great. However the free element of the TV service is terrible. It take an age to load and change channels. The remote control was a psudo brand and not for the TV. The internet is accessed via a cable and there is no WiFi so you cannot use a tablet or mini PC to connect. The towels in the bathroom are very clean but very rough and cause skin irritation when drying yourself. The tea bags are produce weak and watery tea. Now for the really bad and my reasons for really rating this as a poor experience. Immediately outside the hotel entrance the pavement and adjacent area is copiously littered with cigarette butts a nice welcome to any none smoker. The receptions staff do not clean them up. At 2am I was accosted outside the hotel by a crack cocaine prostitute. The night manager refused to call the police, instead I called them. I later found out that the night manager knew the prostitute. He was unfriendly, scruffy and grumpy and not at the standard expected of IBIS hotels. In the morning I found a homeless person sleeping in the smoking area. I didn't eat at the hotel, the food looked bland and curry of the day was £10.95 ! There are dozens of places to eat within 5 mins walk at far cheaper prices. I was disgusted to find that this hotel offers 'extras' as I believe I also saw none guests i.e. working girls entering the hotel bar area.

Room Tip: stay at the mercure royal hotel 300m from the IBIS

wanted to stop another night in Hull but the Royal Hotel was full, The room was ok, but the carpet was coming away from wall, room was very hot even though we had heating off. Only a shower, We only paid £29 for the room which was very cheap. We paid extra for breakfast which was good but only lukewarm. Staff very friendly. Would go back to hotel if passing through
