“Decline”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

Have eaten here many times over the years and the food used to be excellent. There has been a general decline in all standards over the years to when early December a group of us went and it was possibly the worse Chinese I have ever had. Service was rushed , courses forgotten and generally seemed like a cattle market.

“POOOOOOOOH”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

It stinks, yes the WC's sink, the service is rushed and you are made to feel like you're on a conveyor belt, where the food is thrown at you and the money grabbed, and for what??

I can not see the attraction, when you have Mr Chu's (China Palace) in Hull, which is far better.

“Not as good as it used to be”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

Still a decent meal but the standards have dropped since it opened. It's very much a get em in and throw em out chinese eatery now, very slack on service but the food is just about passable. No need to dress for the occasion like you used to, just turn up in jeans and T-Shirt and put up with overloud diners and their kids

“Nowt flash”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

Popped in for an early meal on Sunday night as we were late back from a trip out and the bin lids needed sustenance. China Red has a 5/5 food hygiene rating which is to be commended, but apart from that the dining experience is pretty average. The menu is bog standard generic Chinese with nothing to excite those with more adventurous tastes. Not a dim sum in sight. 'Thai style' stir fry was nothing of the sort just the usual glutinous gravy with some chilli slices and mange tout thrown in. Crispy chilli beef much the same, over sweet glutinous sauce and beef hardly recognisable under the batter. Prices average for this kind of stuff, and portions are generous to be fair. Please try harder, its not that difficult to cook good Chinese food.
