The Ships Quarters
Reviewed May 6, 2013

We stayed at the Ships Quarters having seen it on trip advisor and had a great 3 days. The rooms are superb and immaculate in their presentation. The location is actually pleasantly quiet with a pleasant view from the room. the surroundings and smoking area (if you need it) are super There are plently of chckens to see and the children of the landlord are great as well as their two friendly dogs.
The lanadlord is very friendly and you have a real ale pub available.
We went to the Sunday car boot just down the roasd as well.
Having your breakfast available in the room is a great idea and very relaxing as you just do what you want in your own time.
We will visit again - Malcolm & Sharon F

Once again my husband and I stayed at this fantastic motel style accommodation. We stay here every time we visit family in Dunswell and it never disappoints. In all honesty there's nothing more to say than what a wonderful, clean, comfortable, cosy place this is. The shower is to die for, so powerful it hurts your face! The owner is such a jolly, friendly and welcoming man. Thanks again for a reasonably priced comfortable night.

Room Tip: All rooms identically furnished

We have been coming to the Ship Inn for a few drinks regularly. We stayed in their quarters one evening, as my husband ended up having a lot to drink, due to the welcoming and friendly staff. The rooms are very spacious, light, airy and clean . There is a mini fridge which is filled with a small carton of milk, orange juice, yoghurts, butter and jams, all for the continental breakfast which is included in the price. also there are bananas, cereals, tea and coffee. We love to have a drink in the beer garden at the back as you can watch the free range chickens and see the odd rabbitt every now and then. The food is absolutely gorgeous, all freshly cooked, none of the microwave stuff, and is excellent value for money.
We have stayed again, and we will again and again. i have already recommended this hotel to all my friends and family, so if you stay here you will not be disapointed

Room Tip: there are no tips for the rooms, there are all the same, excellent!!

This accommodation is exactly as it is portrayed on the internet. The rooms are spacious, clean, complete with a mini fridge that is filled with milk, orange juice, yogurt, butters and jams and on the desk are bananas, cereals and coffee. The room overlooks a lovely courtyard and the back looks onto a grassy area with bunnies grazing. Chickens enjoy the grounds as well – just a lovely place. The food at the pub is good and a good value. The people running everything are very nice! We will definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: There are only a few rooms so book early!

This place really exceeded our expectations and is a real find. The room was immaculate, spotless and welcoming and with all the facilities you'd require. The breakfasts were ample and tasty and the whole set up made us feel very "at home".
The staff (and locals) in the pub were very friendly and the beer and food were great. The Mixed Grill was gargantuan and the log fire welcoming. I think that if the car park were tidied up just a little bit and the outside appearance just smartened up this place would do a ton of business. I am kind of glad it doesn't though as it is definitely a kind of "well kept secret"!

On arrival we were greeted with a very friendly and helpful member of staff who showed us to our accommodation. She also ensured a table was reserved in the hotel restaurant for an eveing meal. Last food orders are at 7.30pm. Our room was very clean, tidy and fresh, nice decor and furnishings. There was a television, tea/coffee making facilities and a drinks chiller with fresh milk, bottles of orange, yogurt and a mix of jams/marmalade. Packets of corn flakes and weetabix and two croisants were provided for next mornings continental breakfast. We were both very impressed and the power shower was superb with a hair dryer on hand. Much needed after a drive of over 300 miles.
When we went to the main hotel we were directed to our table and chose from the menu. We were both pleased to have chosen to eat in the restaurant as opposed to ordering locally elsewhere. I personally ordered the large haddock with veg. Was again impressed with the quality of food, presentation and price. The portions are more than ample even for someone with a god appetite.
The atmosphere was very friendly and everyone at the bar seemed to be having a good time and a laugh. After our meal we decided to retire to our room for an early night. There was very little road noise and had a quiet and peaceful nights sleep.
We were both very impressed and would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area.

Room Tip: Room 4 has a side view and not directly next to the car park

We stayed for two nights and found the accommodation scrupulously clean and comfortable; the fridge was well stocked with milk, orange juice and yoghurts and there was cereal and croissants for a continental breakfast-they even left us two wine glasses the next day when they saw our wine in the fridge. Ample tea and coffee, good TV reception and all the channels. The staff were very helpful but you felt you had the place to yourself. The pub itself was cosy and friendly. We will definitely stay there again. The room and bathroom were as good as you could get.
