Had the most enjoyable afternoon at The Mount - great service, fantastic food, great company and lovely ambience. Couldn't rate it high enough. A must for everyone visiting Tunbridge Wells.

Traditional is a word sometimes wrongly used.
This place gets it half right...the food is great, fantastic whitebait, the best i've ever had....or did i think that because it took so long to get the food?
It's a shame as the quality of the food was very good, all we need now is "traditional" service!

Thank you for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed the food. It is however a shame the speed of food service tarnished your visit with us. Please can I ask you to let us know when you visited and what time. This will enable us to look back to your visit in January and assess what happened. It is only with constructive feedback that we can rectify the issues so i thank you again.
I do hope you will re-visit us very soon .

With kind regards

Caroline

We went with friends so party of four, overall the experience was excellent, good wine, good food, with an unusual but delicious desert.
The service was attentive and friendly without being overpowering, one particularly nice touch was the availability of water on the table as standard.
The final price felt a bit on the rich side but this was probably down to the excellent wine tempting us to imbibe a little more than normal!

Great place for Sunday lunch, staff friendly, polite and accommodating... The roasts where simply delicious, with huge Yorkshire puds.. The Mussels Marinere was extremely tasty, but then so was the whitebait. In fact everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Highly recommend.

I took a family member for lunch here. We'd been before and enjoyed the experience but that really wasn't the case this time.

Since we didn't have the appetite for starters we order some bread and devils on horseback to accompany our wine. The bread was thick cut and very dry, borderline stale - between us we ate little more than one piece and left the rest. The devils on horseback (dates in bacon) were tasty but one of them hadn't been stoned which was a very painful discovery for my guest.

Hoping that the main course would set us straight we remained optimistic but the Barbary Duck, although presented well and with well-considered accompaniments (fondant potato, wilted spinach and minted peas), was very dry and with a lack of sauce it was therefore a bit of a struggle to wash down. Since we'd both ordered this it was very disappointing.

I can't comment on their desserts - I'm afraid we left. I will say that the service is excellent and the location is handy being just out of town. The view from our table was good too. Ultimately though, the food wasn't up to scratch and I doubt that we'll return.
