Smart and Simple Hotel
Reviewed March 18, 2013

When we booked this hotel, I suppose by the name alone, we were expecting something basic, but they do go above and beyond being smart and simple. Friendly staff, comfortable large rooms - our only quibble was no kettle! (but I suppose that wasn't the end of the world!)
We had a nice clean room, with a view over the common in front of the hotel. It is mainly restricted parking in the area, so if going midweek I would advise going on the train, but other than that - a good break.

Lovely comfortable bed in a lovely modern hotel. Breakfast was less good which was a shame, however I would stay again as excellent location for town centre. Car parking in the vicinity was a probelm and the train station not too far away so next time will leave the car behind.

Room Tip: For a city break at this hotel it would b e best tio travel by train as no appropriate parking in th...

We stayed there on Saturday 23rd February for one night using the Groupon deal of £69. The reception/bar area was very welcoming it had a nice friendly atmosphere. The room was overlooking the road however we were not kep awake by any traffic noise (might have been the amount of wine we had!). Breakfast was good, juices, cereals, toast, cheese, ham etc. Room was very clean and spacious. Bed was really comfy and nice soft fluffy towels. Would definately recommend. There are some very nice restaurants in the Pantiles area, however we decided to eat in the hotel, and had a really good steak. You must find the Wetherspoons in the town which is just a few minutes walk away from the hotel. It is an old Opera House and well worth a viewing and of course a drink! The hotel staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

This was much better than we expected - having read mixed reviews prior to our visit.
A lovely large and warm room on the ground floor - it was so warm we had to open the window to cool it down for a while!
The chilled champagne and 4 ferrero rochers were available when we wanted them - not left in the room to warm up! The shower was amazing - didn't want to get out! The large bed was very comfy and everything was very clean. Buffet continental breakfast was more than adequate - lots of choice.
Only small niggles:
- Curtains need fixing on the rail properly - though wasn't a major problem!
- The pillows could be thicker but we did have 2 each.
- Would prefer to have coffee and tea making facilities in the room rather than call room service and pay £1 each time.
- Parking!
Overall the hotel and the Groupon deal was excellent value for money and will be looking out for another one there!

Took my husband for a one night Groupon deal to this hotel. £69 with champagne ready on ice and chocolates (well, OK x4 Ferrero Rocher but that'll do). Enormous room and very comfy bed. Bedding white and crisp. Shower room a bit teeny and loo seat wobbly but we will forgive as the location is spot-on for exploring Tunbridge Wells and its range of shops. We had a great time raiding the charity shops, helped by the bright (freezing) weather. Added bonus of bagging one of the hotel parking spaces. All staff friendly and cheerful. Well worth the money.

We booked this using a Groupon voucher, so got a room with chocolates and wine for less than 70 pounds, it was excellent value. Our room was well maintained, a good size and had a comfortable bed. There was an iron and hair dryer although a kettle would be good. However, buying a tea and having it delivered to the room was cheap as there was no service charge.

Breakfast was adequate, although I think they need to buy some better quality bread. We had lunch in the bar and that was good and excellent value.

There are only two parking spaces for the hotel but you can find non restriction parking a few roads away and can park out the front for free for an hour while you unload.

The staff at this hotel are friendly and efficient.

Overall, We enjoyed our stay and would go again.
